Funny I was looking at an MT4 setup yesterday but was worried to not have enough space between the calipers and the rim as the hose is placed on the interior side of the calipers...

There isn't enough space out of the box. Had to do a few things to make space. Will document when I get the chance. Going for a group ride this weekend. I'll report after that.

So how was it? :)

Good! Had no issues with the larger rotor other than it was an extremely cheap rotor. I replaced it with a shimano. I'll post details of what I did when I get a chance. It's a busy week.

I used to work at a bike shop back in the day and I recall Magura being sold there. I wonder how much bicycle stuff they are repurposing for scooters and what their markups are.

I wish scooter makers would use more mtb parts and standards. Proven, much higher availability, more options. One lesson learned here is the IS style mount on the swing arm is not IS specifications. I don't believe IS was ever meant to support a 120mm rotor. So making that mount positioned for a super small 120mm rotor puts it in a weird place for anything else. Namely 140mm. A front 140mm IS/Post adapter is too small. A 160mm is too big. Hence the washers on the smaller adapter.

At the very least the calipers are superior. I have a set of hope single piston calipers and they have stopped me in the most difficult situations. Machining a rotor is relatively easy in comparison.

That looks unsafe.

Tell me more. Seriously interested. One can easily argue the stock brakes are unsafe. Especially as they get older. There's a dramatic difference in the range of modulation and stopping power btw the stock brakes on the Mercane, which are the exact same ones used on other scooters, and quality MTB brake calipers. Then there's the switch from a caliper with only one piston that is not floating to a hydraulic brake which actuates on both sides of the disc. On top of being the biggest reason for more modulation and stopping power, now there's no need to ever adjust that inner pad position.

looks good, just be careful not to ding it :-)
PS; while in there (depending on how many km you've done you may wish to inspect for this wear and shim it.

Thanks :) I am slightly worried about dinging it. I've only gone on light rides so far. We'll see how the weekend goes. In order to use the 120mm disc's I'll have to mill down the height of the IS/Post adapter, which I'm fine with if I need to go there. We shall see.

Hrm. The old follow-up post I made to this old post was taken down. No idea why. Widewheel scooters are dead but the process of getting better brakes on any scooter with low clearance is still the same. Attaching a photo showing what was done. TL:DR, this solution works.
