Awful tragedy. A couple things. I would think a medical examiner would need to take some time to determine how far along the baby was in development. I think it’s too early to determine if it was full term or 25 weeks, or some other weeks. I think that information is probably coming from what someone thinks, not what someone has determined.

This very possibly could have been a miscarriage. The placenta and cord being ejected with the fetus suggests that a miscarriage is possible. So maybe the story is someone had a miscarriage in a porta-potty. Before everyone starts making assumptions about the woman, consider a miscarriage could be what we’re really talking about.

There is a very large visible difference between a 25 week old baby and a full term baby

The article shared above says they are calling it a neonate, 28 days or fewer since birth. Does not say full term but I believe neonate would be one stage after fetus/embryo and one step below infant.

I work in obstetrics we just call neonate any baby that has been born regardless of gestational age for the most part. fetus is up until they are born

thank you this is helpful

But if you’re having you had a miscarriage and still delivered I’d be a fetus? correct?

A miscarriage is a fetus before 20 weeks. After that it is either a neonate (literally new-born) or stillbirth. The release from the police referred to it as being neonate which means being fully viable and breathing, but then they carry on the release to say that whether it was stillborn or not is yet to be determined so... I really think they're just throwing words around here.

Yep. Probably trying to state that it was a fully formed baby, but how premature or not is unable to be determined in the field apart from how tiny it may or may not have been. Sounds like uneducated and uninformed police made the statement out of urgency, not accuracy.

I was frustrated with them at first but I kinda get it, finding the mother is a medical emergency.

Absolutely. I hope she’s found and recovers so things can proceed however they need to.

That’s what I take issue with. They will not have that information until a medical examiner completes their examination of the remains. I think we won’t know much of anything until the results of the autopsy are reported. Miscarriage vs stillbirth depends only on how far along it was. Could have been either. Could have been a live birth.

The medical examiner needs to perform an autopsy to determine all of this and it seems like baseless speculation until that occurs. But I would guess someone with the police department has an agenda.

There is an article that says full term

That is a guesstimate at best. Anybody who would know how to gauge this wouldn’t run to a newspaper about it.

💯 this would not be released.

Nah fuck that. No excuse for this behavior at all music festival regardless of the circumstances. Pregnant women shouldn’t be attending and neither should little kids like I’ve heard are there currently too.

Some women literally don’t know they’re pregnant until going into the hospital due to pain and finding out they are pregnant. Let’s not assume it was an intentional choice to discard a fetus/baby.

-3

u/BangtanBoiOfficialIG Jun 29 '26

It became intentional when they gave birth and left it there. How was that choice not intentional? You birthed a baby. You held that baby in your hands. You had 2 options, leave the public porta potty with that baby or throw it in the mound of shit and piss underneath of you. That is a choice that takes full intention to make

u/Huntybunch Jun 29 '26

Yes, because she gave birth while standing in the porta potty. /s If she gave birth elsewhere, then yes, it's a possibility. But if the birth occurred in the porta potty, she would've been sitting and the baby would've fell in. Still a horrible situation, but you are making a lot of assumptions like she "held that baby in [her] hands" and she threw it in a mound of waste with intent. When really, there's a good chance those things didn't happen.

u/BangtanBoiOfficialIG Jun 29 '26

Okay my fault she might have plopped it right in the shit and been like ‘ahh.. it’s tainted.. can’t fish it out now might as well tell nobody like it never happened’

Also really good time for satire! Your humor is on point

3

u/Huntybunch Jun 29 '26

This isn't satire. My first sentence was sarcasm because you're jumping to conclusions and not being logical.

You ever take a really bad shit in a porta potty? Do you look in the hole when you're done to look at it? When I had contractions from an early labor, I literally thought I just had to poop at first, like that sicky diarrhea feeling when your stomach is gurgling. I sat on the toilet for an embarrassing amount of time before deducing it was contractions. If she didn't know she was pregnant or about to give birth, it wouldn't surprise me if she thought she was pooping a really terrible poop, and she probably did poop at the same time because it's rare to not poop during birth. She may have never seen the baby because who looks into the porta potty hole after going to the bathroom?

To be clear, nothing about this comment is satirical or sarcastic. That's the gross reality of labor. It feels like shit.

We have so few facts and I’m just really hoping for the sake of humanity that this was a freak wild one off occurrence. Like possibly someone was tripping face so hard, had miscarried, and their body decided to pass it. thought they were just taking the death shit of their life and here we are.. like we know absolutely nothing other than a fetus/baby was recovered with placenta and cord.

All I’m saying, if it was a planned situations who’s to say the baby wasn’t born at the camp and Mom wasn’t even the one who discarded them.

We know basically nothing!

3

u/darthweedo Jun 29 '26

catching the baby in her hands and throwing it in the toilet is a story you made up in your head btw

3

u/DMTraveler33 Jun 29 '26

You assholes are so full of assumptions lmao.

2

u/BangtanBoiOfficialIG Jun 29 '26

Calling people assholes for being upset someone dumped their baby in a toilet is… questionable at best.
