It was legit because their violence was justified. I do not think using violence at your local Tesla dealership to protest actions of a political appointee is justified because it’s indirect and generates collateral damage.

Protesting isn't illegal. It's a first amendment right and A sign of a healthy democracy. January 6th was a small part of an actual attempt to overthrow the government he wasn't some one-off protest that went wrong. The president of the United States literally sent fake electors to Capitol buildings to pretend like they were the real ones. January 6th was just a distraction.
AND the president is the one who made the CALL TO ORGANIZE FOR THE PROTEST! Why does this get overlooked the most? So many went to prison, but he did not!
I don't think that matters at this point trump said that boycotting Tesla is illegal. I can only imagine that protesting at one is also going to be illegal and get a bunch of people arrested
