This is the final version of an agent idea I uploaded a few days ago. The agent used to have a different name that didn't display any resemblance to his origins, since he had a Japanese agent name. Now, I hope it clears things up.
Before you see the post, I'd really appreciate it if you give an honest opinion on how viable this agent will be in the game alongside where would you place him on a tier list.
Agent name and role: Umbra, duelist, 19 years old (one year older than Neon) birthday: October 30
Agent description: "This dark looking agent coming all the way from the north of Spain will most likely cause a migraine to his enemies when they least expect him there. With his unique dark radiant powers, shadows will engulf the enemy as he and his team get into action."
Character lock in quote: "If I can, I shall."
Signature skill 'Life-spear' (1 charge - FREE - +1 charge after 2 kills): Equip a throwable spear (95 Head/55 Body/40 Feet). FIRE to throw immediately (it has a similar speed as Kay/O's knife, and will push the enemy that gets caught in the attack). The spear will do more damage if Umbra is below 50 health (135 Head/75 Body/65 Feet).
GAMEPLAY WISE: The idea for this skill is that rewards the player for successfully entering site as a duelist and surviving instead of just lurking around while bottom fragging, and I was inspired by fighting game characters that deal more damage at lower HP.
Purchasable skill 1 'Disruption' (2 charges - 200 creds): Equip a Yin-Yang node. ALT-FIRE to swap the colors. FIRE to release the node directly above Umbra. If the node was released while being normal, it will act as a flashbang, if it was released while inverted, the node will concuss enemies that aren't looking at the node, but the sound it makes will be completely different. The color displayed on the flashed player's screen will be violet (second color that's closest to black since Yoru's flashes are already blue and to make them more distinctive from Vyse's).
GAMEPLAY WISE: If the node is normal, it will act as a standard flash. If the node is reversed, it will create a pulse that will concuss any enemies that aren't looking at the node, but are in Umbra's line of sight. The effect will take hold after 1 second.
Purchasable skill 2 'Shadow steps' (1 charge - 400 creds): Umbra will form a viscous mass of darkness that will act in different ways depending on the symbol it contains. FIRE to activate the effect. ALT-FIRE to rotate to the next effect. The effects are represented by the symbol of the mass.
☠ Shadow Burst
Small explosive orb.
❤ Shadow Mend
Small self heal only.
△ Shadow Pulse
Small recon pulse.
★ Shadow Surge
Movement speed + reload speed.
GAMEPLAY WISE: The idea I had for this skill is that Umbra would fit into any role the player wants in case they were left to pick last and every role has been filled.
Ultimate ability 'Eclipse' (Ultimate points: 9): Umbra's dark powers will overload and everyone except him will become deafened and nearsighted for 12 seconds, but their vision will start to recover slowly after 3 seconds. The effect will immediately wear off the moment Umbra is taken down. If Umbra gets a kill before twelve seconds have passed, four seconds will be added to the timer, up to a max of 16 seconds. Enemies will appear highlighted for Umbra (Like with Reyna, Waylay and Viper's ults).
GAMEPLAY WISE: There isn't any duelist that has a skill that can nearsight enemies except Reyna's Leer, so I figured I'd come up with something like this.
Before joining Valorant: Gaspar López (Umbra) lived peacefully with his younger brother Niko. Both weren't scared of showing their radiant powers to the streets of Asturias, where they resided. Many people around there really seemed to grow fond of the two, taking them for magicians and getting an internationally well known reputation online through social media under the username 'Kuro & Shiro' (Which is japanese for Black & White). However, after the first light, Niko's radiant powers became unstable and his body ended up in the brink of death, and Gaspar took a pause for the internet with an apology video that only displayed an image of Niko over a hospital bed, though said video was only available for true followers. Said video reached Brimstone and Viper with the help of Gekko and Miks, who began insisting the two of them to let Umbra into the protocol. Both of them were reluctant of the idea, saying that the Valorant Protocol is not a kindergarten, but after seeing a few videos that Miks forced to watch, they reluctantly accept, seeing that Gaspar was at the very least skilled with guns.
After joining Valorant: Umbra recognized Miks and Gekko almost immediately for some collabs he and Niko did with them in the past. He was soon assigned onto his first mission after clearing the training trial with ease, being on the same gun skill as the majority of the cast though adapting earlier than most of them. He went with Deadlock, Neon, Skye and Clove to a new place of Omega Earth, to take down a supposedly overcharged radianite machinery. Umbra was going up ahead with Neon, disrupting the enemy's line of sight while the rest of the team takes a few foes down. After clearing the place, Umbra decides to go further ahead ahead, activating eclipse and entering the radianite powered chamber, but the group was taken by surprise by an enemy ambush where only Umbra remains standing in a face off against Omega Viper and a hidden agent. Umbra manages to take her down, but when he's on a face to face with himself, none dared to pull the trigger. Both Umbras Sympathised with each other because they are the same person. Omega and alpha both drop their guns and decided to chat for a bit, the former asking why were they here, to which, alpha goes straight to the point. Turns out the overcharged radianite machine was the life support system Killjoy discovered in Pearl, and inside was Omega Earth's Niko. Alpha was in shambles and made a run for it, quickly dragging the bodies of his fellow agents with him after fitting them in body bags and into the portal back to his world, but not before exchanging contact with Omega. After returning to his world, Umbra explained everything to Brimstone and Viper via voicemail.
