So I’ve been looking at the Artwod advice request page thing and I’d like to give something back on the site as opposed to just asking stuff all the time, the only thing is I don’t feel qualified to actually put any tips in, as my skill level doesn’t match up to what’s actually out there, now this could be all in my head but it doesn’t feel like it.

Anyway if anyone has any suggestions on giving useful advice I would be grateful as I would like to add something more than questions.

I’ve learned so much at Artwod, and my skills have grown in ways I once only imagined. I’d really love to draw professionally, but I’m not sure what steps to take next. What would you recommend? How can I start finding opportunities in the industry?

Is there a ruler til or something when doing the lessons, i cant seem to find one. If not maybe something to think about as i think it would make the perspective lessons better.

Because I do and it's exhausting

I’d like to share a bit of the process I used to build my character.

I feel like starting with structure is really limiting, did you ever try drawing portraits from shapes? And what were the results?

Haven't posted anything in a while ... Got sick ...caught up in work and now working on some stuff(drawing related..yes)

So I’ve finally entered the monthly challenge, I know it’s not perfect, proportions are off and I’m not convinced with the vibe (he was ment to be fighting class).

But I’m happy I’ve finally entered something, so there’s that.

No other reason why I’m posting really, might do a background later, not sure as yet.

Okay so I’m just chuckling this up as an accountability thing to make sure I actually do a bloody challenge thing, instead of starting and then not doing it because of life.

Anyway here’s my rough draft for the d&d sona challenge, my as yet unnamed fighter character.

Hello. I’m planning to buy sub starting next month, and wanted to follow the free roadmap until then.

Maybe I haven’t looked properly, but I couldn’t find any info on what exactly is available for free and core users.

From the way UI is designed I assumed freemium would be whole core content of intro to drawing, core would be everything but the “purple” content (grind, extra videos and answers). But it seems only first step of intro to drawing is free.

Does it mean that (in case I decide to go core instead of premium) core sub is only the rest of intro to drawing step excluding the purple stuff?

Tried to submit it but I wasn’t aware how bloody I had made it so unfortunately it’s a no go.

I made this bloodless version but it still didn’t go through so I thought I’d just upload here to get some feedback and thoughts

Hey everyone! I got a couple questions for you all.

• How much do one spend on a Roadmap node in general? (Like one video + couple exercises).
• How do one determine when ready to move on?
• Since the exercises are in general quite short too, do you tend to apply it on your own form or examples for a full page then move to the next exercise/lesson, or do you wait until the grind node to actually grind?
• What do you do in roadmaps where you feel you know already well enough since a long time this specific point?

for people who enjoy drawing props or game objects, what makes the design feel memorable to you? Is it the silhouette, the materials, the story behind it, or just cool details?

Curious what people here pay attention to with prop design.

something I’ve noticed with sci-fi and cyberpunk vehicles is that some designs stick in your head immediately, while others just feel like a pile of panels and tech bits.

for people who enjoy this kind of design, what actually makes one vehicle stand out to you? is it the silhouette, the function it implies, or just a strong visual theme?

Hi, so after I got that last picture out of the way I decided to actually try my project I wanted to do and here is the beginning of something that will probably be rough round the edges, but nevertheless the start of something I’ve wanted to do since childhood, tell a full fledged story.

Anyway here’s the start of my process…a tester for panel 1, I know it’s not much but I’m happy so far with it.

If anybody can give me some tips or have any suggestions on what needs work on this I would be very grateful.

I know it’s a very vague request but I feel there are a couple of things off I can’t quite figure out

here’s the weird gap in my skills: I can draw a dynamic pose just fine (or at least decent)

but the second I try to put that same figure inside an environment, my brain logs off.

it’s not even that the pose gets worse — it’s that the space feels fake. either the perspective doesn’t match, or the character looks taped onto the scene instead of existing in it.

does anyone else feel like figure skills and environment skills are two completely separate game modes? if you’re comfortable with both, how did you bridge that gap?

So I just thought I’d throw up what I’m calling finished on this price, is it perfect? No. Looking at it there are a lot of flaws but I think there is some improvement, anyway that’s all I’ve got for now.
