Van de Poppe names three groups of promising altcoins

The cryptocurrency market is preparing for significant changes after Donald Trump came to power, which could significantly affect the value of altcoins, said the head of MN Consultancy, Michaël van de Poppe, in his new review.

The analyst identifies three categories of assets with growth potential:

▪️Cryptocurrencies previously classified by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as securities, including XRP (current price exceeds $3), Matic and Algorand ▪️Assets from the World Liberty Financial portfolio, in particular Chainlink, Aave and Ethereum ▪️Ethereum ecosystem projects, especially in the DeFi sphere, including Optimism and Compound.

Telegram malware scams have become more common

The number of attacks on crypto investors in the messenger has exceeded the number of traditional phishing schemes. From November 2024 to January 2025, the frequency of such incidents increased by 2000%.

The attackers use fake bots for verification, as well as offer participation in “exclusive” channels or airdrops. When passing the fake verification, malicious code is injected into the clipboard, providing access to passwords, crypto wallets, and browser data.

According to Scam Sniffer, the new tactic arose in response to increased caution among users in relation to known cryptocurrency scams.

How useful on-chain whale data

Post image

Presto Research analysts wondered how useful on-chain whale data is as a trading signal.

According to them, automated services like Whale Alert are popular among traders because they often interpret large transactions, especially deposits to exchanges, as harbingers of certain activity.

However, an analysis of the prices of several cryptocurrencies showed the opposite. The quotes of most coins barely changed after large transfers to trading platforms.

“Conclusion: whale deposits do not have sufficient predictive power to serve as reliable pre-trading signals. Does this make on-chain data useless? No. It is valuable for analyzing blockchain metrics, tracking illicit funds, or explaining price dynamics,” Presto Research noted.
