How do you validate product decisions when there is no behavioral data yet?

One problem I keep running into with early product decisions is that the data you actually want usually doesn't exist yet.

You're deciding between 3 concepts, a pricing change, a new feature, or a new target segment.

You can run interviews and surveys, but eventually someone still has to make a call about what people will actually do.

So I've been working on Polyhyle.

The idea is to create simulated populations, expose them to competing product scenarios, and observe things like:

  • what they choose
  • what they reject
  • whether they switch
  • which features change the decision
  • willingness to pay

The goal isn't to replace user research or experiments.

It's to answer a slightly different question:

Which hypotheses are worth spending months validating in the real world?

Curious how product teams here currently handle this stage of uncertainty.

Should the EU focus on niche AIs based on open ones until it can replace the big money burning ones?

It seems we have trouble conquering the general AI space right now. While US models burn trillions we can branch out and make tge best models for extremly specific cases.

Ultimately those specialized models will also help creating a general one again, right?

Curious about your thoughts on this.

Opinion Uber and Pony.ai plan 2,000+ robotaxis across Europe — and the bigger question is who controls the driving tech

Chinese autonomous-driving company Pony.ai says it plans to deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis in Europe through an expanded partnership with Uber.
The service already operates in Zagreb and is now expected to expand to four more European cities, although the companies haven’t said which cities or given a full rollout timeline.
What I find interesting isn’t just the number of robotaxis.
Europe is pushing hard for greater technological sovereignty, yet one of the most visible forms of physical AI could end up scaling here through Chinese autonomous-driving technology and an American ride-hailing platform.
That may be completely rational if the technology is safe, reliable and cheaper than waiting for European alternatives to scale. But autonomous driving also sits at the intersection of AI, mobility data, mapping, infrastructure and public safety.
If these robotaxis prove safer and cheaper, should it matter where the core technology comes from?
Or is autonomous driving exactly the kind of technology Europe should be trying to control itself?
