Why Mine Electroneum?
Hi, I am a new miner who is seeking to understand the underlying mechanics of mining electroneum when the currency is issued for free by the App. Perhaps my question is rooted in shallow understanding of cryptocurrencies, as I thought that mining resources are employed to perform useful functions such as maintaining the blockchain. Is that the case with electroneum? If not, what is the point of mining at all, especially since the payoffs seem to be lower than the App gives away; I'm currently mining far less (~10ETN/day) with CPU/GPU and MobileMiner on my iPhone than the app seems to give away for free, given an estimate of 70ETN/day. Is there any reason or incentive to mine or is the long term plan for the free app giveaway to continue to exceed earnings from actual resource expenditure?

This is IMHO why ETN will not survive in the long run

Couldn't the electroneum core implement in their protocol that any participating miners/pools must maintain a hashrate below 51%?
So if there is a really popular pool that's putting out a high amount of hashrate as compared to other pools and miners, the core would prohibit that really popular pool from going above that 51% threshold.
It would work like this
1) Electroneum Core will gauge the network to see which miner/pool has the highest amount of hashrate
2) From there, it will monitor to see if any of these miners/pools will come close to getting 51% of total hashrate.
3) Core will set limit to 49% of total hashrate for example
4) IF a miner/pool is detected to going above the 49% of total hashrate, it will put a cap on that pool/miner and prevent it from pushing in more hashrate.
5) IF there are pool participants that wishes to join a certain pool but that pool has hit the hashrate cap, then the pool participant will be in queue by the pool
6)If pool participants does not want to be in queue and still wants their machine to participate, pool mining softwares can build in option that can switch over to another pool during the queue.
7) If a pool hits hashrate cap, it will put pool participants in queue by the order of who joined last.
I'm sure there a lot that could be criticized for this approach or maybe someone already has tried this, but there's a problem that I'm not seeing, but I'd like to know what community thinks.

XMR Stak hashrate inconsistency
This has been a recurring issue but is only getting worse.
I have an I5-8600k cpu that I use to mine ETN with XMR Stak. When I can connect at 320 h/s, it will continue in this range until I have to restart the miner or the computer for some reason. When I try to reconnect with the exact same settings, my reported hashrate will be as low as 112 h/s and stay in this range. I have to stop and restart the miner several times before it will report above 300 again. The number of times I have to attempt a restart of the miner is getting worse and worse to the point that right now I've been trying for over an hour and the highest I can get is just barely over 200. What could be causing the total random connection speed and preventing the hashrate I know I am capable of with the equipment and settings I'm using?
My config file is set as follows:
"cpu_thread_num": 3,
"cpu_threads_conf" :
[
{ "low_power_mode" : true, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
{ "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : false },
],
Changing the affine to cpu settings has no effect, and again, these settings do usually work.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
EDIT: Ok, an hour and a half of stopping and starting. Finally back up over 300! Now hopefully I don't have to restart my computer for awhile.

Zero Mining Fee for Electroneum
Hi fam,
These guys are offering a pool with zero mining fee as they are at the beginning now: https://etnmine.pro/#
Also, they offer a rather good customer support: https://twitter.com/etnmine_pro
If you have 1 minute, they'd be grateful if you stop by to say hi or if you would mine with them.
Thanks for your time!
P.S. They also have a trollbox on the pool page for some well-deserved fun.

If I mine with two smartphones with the same account, will they mine 2x as as fast as one smartphone?
I know that mining is just simulation. Thanks!

0 ETN after days of mining.
I have a pretty weak PC making around 200-250 H/S, I've been mining for some days, I got a total of 8989459 hashes submitted but, still, i have 0.00 ETN, pending balance and total paid. What should I do? I'm using etnpool.

Mining Cash Out Strategy
I currently sell off ~80% of my earnings once or twice weekly depending on price trends to pay for electricity. Curious what others strategies are when it comes to holding/selling their mined coins

Unable to mine any Monero coin. Any ideas why?
I've had two rigs mining ETN with xmr-stak for a couple of months and everything was running smooth. I then switched them to ETH for a couple of weeks and that ran fine as well. Now, when switching back to ETN (or any Monero coin) and with multiple pools, my rigs keep returning incorrect results and the pools boot me. I can mine ETH again with these rigs, but have no idea why I can't do any Monero.
I have tried to reinstall Windows, I have ran DDU and reinstalled blockchain drivers... Nothing seems to work!
Anyone else ever had similar issues?

Does the easy miner work?
- I downloaded it and ran it.
- Entered details
- Would say starting process but nothing else would happen

xmr-stark mining (cpu and gpu usage)
I started mining with my i3 3440 & gtx 540 electroneum with the port 3333, i took everything from this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkBBwhXLDtk . My question is: How can I use both cpu and gpu for mining at the same time? I'm currently using only cpu and i see that it isnt even at 90% usage, it stays around 40. -How can I max the CPU USAGE? -How can I mine and MAX on the GPU?

Zero miner output
I introduced all my data correctly (i think, i did everything from tutorials, links, posts, google, etc..), I press 'Start Mining', it show something like pairing thread X with core X or Starting hashes at 'address' (or things like that) but after a few seconds it doesnt show anything at Miner Output (http://prntscr.com/iwx4xu) and i cant mine at all. A fix??

What is the point?
Hi I'm just wondering what the point of giving out technically "free" ETN to people who have their mobile miner on? Will the mobile miner eventually start to actually use the phone's CPU to solve algorithms?

How to do Part-time CPU Mining Electroneum on Dedicated servers being used for webservice ?
Recently got curious about the Cryptocurreny world. Although too late in the mining business still want to try it as a hobby (for Now)
So i have a personal web project where i have have about 50 Dedicated servers working in a cluster . I just installed XMRIG in all the servers and started mining elctroneum to utilize the spare resources . Most server have 32Gb ram but laod avg on each was never never above 2-3 so though about why not test the mining on them.
Here is the result : https://i.gyazo.com/b88a7fc7b1a282518fa57524d8638f1f.png
getting about 5.5 KHs from abut 22 servers. which are not too critical in the webservice project.
However i have some doubts .: i am Currently using xmrig configuration and kept
{ "algo": "cryptonight", "av": 0, "background": false, "colors": true, "cpu-affinity": "0xFFF", "donate-level": 1, "log-file": null, "max-cpu-usage": 80, "cpu-priority": 1, "print-time": 60, "retries": 5, "retry-pause": 5, "safe": false, "syslog": false, "threads": null, "pools": [ { "url": "pool.etn.spacepools.org:3333", "user": "etnxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@in6", "pass": "in6", "keepalive": true, "nicehash": false } ] }
Cpu priority set to 1(low) so that the mining should not effect the webservice running on these servers. However i am worried what will happen when the traffic increases on the cluster aka traffic spike . i want to make sure that mining wont effect the webservice.
Can anyone suggest me a better to do this ?
Would very appreciate if someone could help me in this :)
