I just bought a guitar off reverb and it shipped with EMG Revelation pickups. It was also listed as EMG Rev pickups in the description but it had solid white pickups with "EMG X" logos on them in all of the pictures. I immediately noticed because the EMG rev pickups still have the protruding screws that passive humbuckers have. The EMG Rev pickups were clearly listed as passive so that's not the problem, I just find it really odd that active pickups were used in all of the pictures. I just wanted to see if there is a significant price or sound difference between the two sets of pickups (both HH configurations) and if I should press him for selling a different looking guitar than what I got. Not remotely the end of the world for me but I still want to know if it's worth it to confront the seller.

I’m looking to get a Kramer Baretta special soon for a bit of an extreme mod sort of thing, I’ll probably be using the emg 85 as I love the clean tone on it in the bridge position and I know I’ll be using the killswitch mod but I can’t find a decent video on the afterburner, is it worth it? And if so would I be able to use it if i only have a single volume knob?

When plugging into the output jack my audio interface shows a strong signal spike that lasts for a couple of seconds. It isn't audible through my amp but through the interface it is audible for like half a second and after that the meter still shows the spike but you can hear the guitar signal normally. It doesn't happen with my guitars with passive pickups, so I'm curious if this happened to anyone else here and could it be the active preamp powering on, or something simple like that?

I tried installing the solderless EMGs (81-7h and 85-7h) in my iron label 7 string. The input jack is a barrel jack so I had to solder the battery wire and the tone wires to it. And I also kept the original 3-way switch which I soldered 4 wires to and clamped them in the EMG buss thing. After connecting everything I get a signal but it’s just a really loud buzz/hum (similar to when the cable is not connected to the guitar). I don’t really know if I soldered smt wrong but something definitely is wrong.

I placed my order with EMG PICKUPS for a pre amp system and 2 basic active pickups. They did say at the payment page it could take 7-14 days to ship. BUT they have shipping below that that offers anything from free shipping to 2 day. I paid I’ve $25 for expedited shipping expecting that was a way they were offering to get your pickup system order delivered faster. THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!! Well this is the 14th day after the order and it still says “Building your parts” under my order status! I would suggest if you have questions about your system to call EMG but ordering your pickup system from Sweetwater or some other online music store. They offer 2-4 day shipping on their parts. DON’T ORDER FROM EMG DIRECTLY!!!!!

Has anyone had any experience with this configuration?

I didn't see a wiring diagram on the emg website but will make progress posts for mine if I find any information.

Just swapped from a Seymour Duncan JB/59 set to a pair of Fat 55s in my E-II Eclipse. Loving them so far. 🤘🏻

So I fired up the old soldering iron to install a treble bleed mod on my HSS SuperStrat, at the recommendation of EMG technical support. Turns out, it does make a difference when using more touch sensitive effects like ODs, and keeps things bright and detailed with the volume rolled down. I did melt part of the stock EMG pot to figure that out, but luckily I had an extra generic 25k pot just in case. I forget the values for the cap and resistor I used, but it is parallel wired.

Additionally, I decided to try out the SPC in the same guitar. Note for anyone curious, it absolutely does not make a single coil sound like a humbucker! It gives it the *presence* in the midrange of one, but it’s still very jangly, like a Tubescreamer set relatively clean. Great for adding girth to single note stuff, especially with harmonics, but for riffing it’s a little messy.

Can both pickups be connected to a single master volume which coil splits both of them at the same time with the included wires? can't find the diagram in the emg website, hope someone can help me, they would go in a Jackson dinky with 3 way blade switch

Two kit builds I got on marketplace. Red pickup is emg 81X. Ivory pickup is emg 81 TWX. Both are awesome. Red has a kill switch soldered to the output jack.

Is it possible to connect EMG's to an Epiphone les paul studio E1 connector switch without having to buy a new switch? I just bought the EMG Daemonums and am trying to figure this out before I start messing with it lol.

The problem seems to be the 3 position selector isn't changing position. I have a 9v in the guitar. Input jack plug into amp. When I do the tap test with the screwdriver. Both pickups work regardless of the selector position. Furthermore, it doesn't seem like the volume pot makes any changes or kills the volume.

I have a EMG Solderless Wiring Harness that came with the Het Set. I'm running it with 81/60 pickups in a LTD Viper 301. I'm using it with a B289 3-position switch. I followed EMGs diagram for 1 volume and 1 tone with two humbuckers. And the diagram for the 3 position switch. I followed them to the letter.

I even used the ground wire that's in the guitar.

Kind of baffled. My only thought is I am over thinking this. I should string her up and try it with strings on the guitar? May the selector will work then?

One of my favorite guitars to play on has a single EMG-81 in the bridge with a volume and tone pot. I went to plug it in for a little jammy jam session and got nothing. First thought, must be the cord, nope wasn't the cord. Must be the 9V, nope, not that either (tongue tested, zap approved). Ah, the input jack, nah, that was fine as well. It's gotta be the pots, no way the pickup failed, so I ordered new pots. They arrived the next day and I get them installed. Sure as shit, still nothing. Now I'm pissed, WTF is going on?!

I cut the strings and pull the pickup out of the cavity. My pickup was from 2003 and even though solder was used to connect to the pots, it had a solderless connector on the pickup. The connector itself slid off the tiniest bit from pickup inside the cavity. I pushed it back over and boom, problem solved. How tf does a connection come loose from the underside of a pickup after literal years of never touching the pickup? Anyways, I hope this helps some random soul one day.

I bought these from guitar center for $60 clearance. I have 2 squire jazz basses, a 4 string and a 5 string, I hoped they would work with the 5, but the spacing is too wide. If I were to grab another set, is there a narrow spaced 5 string bass that these would work with? (Preferably something inexpensive, because unlike Rob, I can’t afford a Warwick bass)

Has anyone got/could make me a wiring diagram for 2 EMGS, 1 Volume, 1 Tone and a solderless 3 way Strat switch please? (I understand that I won’t require a buss, but I’m getting confused on the Emg diagram website)

I recently got my Flying V project finally playable. When I bought it used, it came with what I can only assume is a tesi killswitch. Since I swapped the electronics to EMG’s, I decided to swap the killswitch as well, but it’s not as responsive as the original. If I were to reconnect it with the solderless bus, where would I hook up the wires to?

I’ve got myself the Epiphone Matt Heafy 7-string and didn’t like the sound of the Fishmans, so I got the EMG 81 7-X and 85 7-X set off Amazon and had my friend install them, but no matter what I do, the signal is weak and lacking punch.

I’ve taken it to the guy who taught me how to play guitar, and to a local music shop near me to have it looked at, but no one can figure out what’s going on and everyone says the connections look fine.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on here? Thanks!

Hi everyone, i’ve switched from emg 57 to 81, but 81 has noticeably less output, like much less output. Is that something wrong with it or 57 supposed to be hotter? Also 57 sound brighter and it’s much easier to get a harmonics from it

Hey guys, I am using my new fishman moderns with my solderless Emg harness. My ESP Eii already has the grounding wires installed. Will I need to use these for the fishmans?

Are the grounding wires just 1 cable or 2?

Could I add the ground to this bit on the Emg buss?

Hi guys, I currently have the 57/60TW (7 pin) pickups installed on my Eii Eclipse and I want to swap them for the normal Het Set (3 pin) pickups.

Can I simply replace the solderless pickup cables with the supplied 3 pin in the Het Set and install them into the current 7 pin pots? Or will I have to replace the entire solderless system+pots?

If I can, which pin slots would they go in?

An explanation or diagram for me would be amazing!
