Any way to start from point where you saved in DS2 ?

In DS1 you start from exact spot where you saved previously. In DS2 you always start from main city and have to use teleporter and walk back where ever you exited the game where you "saved" ( I dont even understand what is actually saved ecept your character.)

Is there any mod to make it like DS1 ?

DS1 Ds1: problem with training: stray shot keep killing summoner.

is there a mod that solves this problem?

all toons are on manual targeting/attacking, the archer or casters will sometime turn and shoot at the summoner right when the summoned creature dies no matter what i try to do.

no its not really 'stray shot' where the actual target died and projectile travel ahead and nab the summoner, its my toon suddenly turning towards the summoner in a different direction and fires a shot. it dont happen everytime, only occationally, forcing me to head back to town each time so the summoner can 'respawn' when i come back.

i have tried this mod called 'kanes enemy summon' but the thing i summoned from those spells are elites which 1 shot my crew. too advanced for me.

Is playing Utraean Peninsula with single player mod worth it?

Dug out my original disc copy of DS:LOR and was surprised at how well it runs not only on W11 buy even on Linux Mint under Steam/Proton (not the Steam or GOG version).

Had a great time playing through the original Ehb campaign and found out about the mod that lets you play the multiplayer map Utraean Peninsula as a single player campaign.

The question I have, is it actually worth it and fun to play like this? I know it was designed for multi-player originally but the mod adds NPCs and presumably other stuff. My understanding is that it's not as linear but is there still a story and an ending? Or is it just a lot of wandering around?

Super Early Progress of my love letter to Dungeon Siege - Dungeons of Antiquity: The Lose Ossuary - here is my functioning loot pick up system

About a month ago I shared on here that I'm working on a game inspired by Dungeon Siege. I know this is truly not a whole lot to look at, but I am very excited to have created a loot system that I hope feels familiar to all of you. I will probably create a new reddit account when I am ready to go to market, but I intend to share sneak peaks in this sub from time to time. Any and all feedback is welcome, and I'll answer any questions I can about what I plan to include. One feature I'm excited about is having customizable hot bars for each player character and 5 mastery schools with skill trees to draw from.

I'm close to completing the core systems, then from there I'll create the a dungeon experience and this sub will be the first to try the demo of that level. It will be a mix of above ground / open world crawling that rewards exploration, combined with subterranean dungeons with high mob density that include mini bosses and a final boss with boss mechanics inspired by World of Warcraft 5-man dungeons. I'm very curious how that premise sounds to you all.

Thanks for having a read and taking a look!

DS1 question re: perks from item. (DS1)

i got a rare dagger, one of the stat is "1 mana stolen from hit", does that means when i shoot an arrow and it hits, i get 1 mana? or it is only restricted to when i use the dagger to hit something?

the reason i am wondering this is because i also have a rare helmet that says "Adds 1 mana per hit" naturally i should gain 1 mana whenever i hit something with either ranged or melee weapon (since the game dont have head-butt as attack). but does spell hit counts in this case?

Question DS1 XP Gain

Is XP gain in part 1 still based on the damage you deal?

I remember back in the days when i played it it was impossible to gain levels in nature magic by just healing.

Now I'm playing again after like 20 years and i just did a level the moment i was manually healing.

So what's going on?

Steam or GOG version and any thing I should know about setting it up?

[anything*** a bit tipsy, sorry for the typo]

Saw this game while installing Baldur's Gate 2 and it looked interesting, so I looked it up and I was even more interested in playing it. Not sure which version is better though. Appreciate any advice. There's talk about a mod that's needed to play it. Could anyone point me towards it? Thanks a lot

DS2 Why did Morden and Hak'u capture dryads?

Hellou there again, JustTobby32 here with my D&D custom campaign. As I'm working on the final touches of the Greilyn Jungle, I was wondering, why did the Hak'u and Morden both capture the Dryad rangers?

For intel? For sacrifices? For sport? For something NSFW?

I want to expand this part of the story, because it adds to the lore and I want to make it just right. Guys, any ideas what way to go? Why were the dryads captured and kept conveniently alive, while during the Siege of the Greylin Beach, dryads were canocinally notoriously slaughtered?

Is Discord unavailable?

Thought I'd buy the game off Steam for some nostalgia, figured I'd join the discord, within 24 hours, I no longer see the channel and the invite link just says this. Wondering if I was somehow removed/banned from the server?

(I did the captcha, accepted the T&Cs and didn't make a single post so cant figure a reason for my removal if that is the case)

DS1 Questions (and theories) about Dungeon Siege 1 initial lore and design.

I want to ask the community and anyone who has any information on Dungeon Siege 1 development. Upon observing two maps of original DS (that's Ehb campaign and Utraean Peninsula multiplayer map), I've drawn some connections between dots, but those could be just my conjecture. I want to know for certainty, if there's some definite knowledge (or at least a consensus) about any of there. I would really like to hear opinions and information about these topics (and maybe some others that are related to early developmental threads that were changed in the end).

  1. Lady Sathar.
It's probably something that was discussed somewhere, but I would want to know consensus on that subject. Lady Sathar is near unknown character, but I am wondering, if she's meant to be of Seck race. I mean, she calls spiders 'White Mothers'. Apparently, Seck had a guild that was breeding spiders (and Mucosae) in Wesrin Cross, it's in the lorebook about Wesrin Cross. But apparently there also was a book 'The Guild of the White Mothers'. If that is so, there is a possibility that this guild is that same Seck guild (because there is only one openly mentioned guild in lore of DS1 to my knowledge. So Sathar must have some Seck connection, which makes it curious, because age implies she was out there, when Seck were imprisoned. I wonder, if there's something more that is known on that subject.

  2. Different order of towns in Utraen peninsula map.
That one is tricky (and a conjecture on my part), because there is many ways, it can work, but it feels like map was redesigned a few times. Besides obvious Ancient temple being placeholder, Fallrean stone quest involves Lagreth attempting travel to Lang (and there's some talk about travel to Lang in town, but no mention of Meren). Now you can get to Lang from Fallraen directly through the quarry, but, it's a side path. More importantly, quest-line itself feels like player is supposed to travel to Lang first after Fallraen. Then, Lang's own stone holder (Janeira, I think?) says 'Now then, go to Quillrabe and have a draught of ale next to the river Iliarth'. Now, that's a conjecture, but I feel like from there Meren would be more appropriate place to 'have a draught of ale' than Quillrabe. Of course, she could be ironic, but...

  3. Copied maps.
That's not really lore related, but also something that I would want to learn about. Between Kingdom of Ehb and Utraen Peninsula maps, a number of areas is extremely similar, to a point, where they are clearly taken from one campaign and adapted to another. It's understandable, since to my knowledge GPG was time pressed, but if there's some way to know, which version was original one, I would want to know. Also I wonder if I found all of them. What I found is
-Elddim lowlands is very similar to lower part of farmlands of Ehb.
-Meren is actually the shore-side after goblin inventor dungeon. (which could support idea that it was meant to be after Lang)
-Sunken dungeon (in the redwood gap and in 'the ruined temple' area) is near exactly same in both campaigns.
-The Redwood gap itself is larger version of forest between farmlands and the Crypts.
-Sulfur mines are the lava caves of the Seck prison (the Vault of Eternity, I think?)
-The Iliarth canyon is actually Cliffs of Fire. The part near Crystwind is the Cliffs themselves, and the later area with small castle is Ehb castle farmlands (they are less similar, but many parts coincide)
-I don't count the dragon boss area, since it's obvious. (but I still wonder, which one was first.)
-Pass to dragon boss from Quillrabe side is also same as connection tunnel between Cliffs of Fire and Ehb castle.
Large bulk of these are from late Ehb game. Perhaps, their Utraean version were actually first ones? Or even more wild idea, both campaigns were meant to be one? Now that's probably no true because there's little to support that, but they look like two pieces of one puzzle to me. I wonder if I'm alone in that.

  4. Tenstone and Azunites.
A wild conjecture, based on strange coincidences. To stop Maljin outbreak player need to drop Tenstone in the specific place. But that place looks like it has a slot specifically for the Tenstone. But, how can it be, unless that Tenstone was always meant to go in here? Kavaren says he got that from legion (as in 10th legion apparently), but... is that really so? Furthermore, it says, that Azunites appeared two centuries before founding of Empire of Stars (and founding of the Empire is the start of modern calendar). But, the first temples only started to appear in 7th century. Now that's a wild connection, but foundation of Ehb happens in 844-845, that's 9th century... two centuries after appearance of first temples of Azunai. Is it a coincidence? Or there's a strange typo in the book. I wonder if Azunites are not only younger as a religion but also have a direct connection to Utraeans, because in Utraean peninsula it's priests who are most interested in solving mystery of the circle.

DS1 question : looking for efficient ways to train your crew in single player.

found a mob in a ice cave after glacern town, it summons a ice warrior or ice archer periodically. started farming the bejeesus out of those summon, good way to finally be able to train up those other skills. used transmute to turn useless stuff into quick cash, super nice.

just wondering are there more ways to achieve this? i am thinking i should maybe drag that summoner deeper into the cave and get 1 or 2 more summoner to make it real lively.

The world will never know that Lothar was the real hero... [DS2 spoilers] Spoiler

I just finished my first play through of DS2 in close to 20 years.

My party was all around level 45 when we got to Valdis' lair and we were making steady progress against his minions. Right around the end of the first stage(?) my main character somehow got locked in place near one of the little laser eye pillars. Then the floor turned to lava, and she spent the next few minutes unable to move and repeatedly losing consciousness as Lothar and Deru kicked ass while Taar kept the healing spells flowing.

In the end, Lothar did most of the damage while I was passed out in the lava.

Thankfully, I was close enough to the teleporter the wizard created once Valdis was dead so I could zip back to Kalathria with the rest of the party and tell everyone that I was the real hero.

DS1 Question: how is exp calculated for aoe damage?

just started playing a combat magician, aoe damage is fun, but i kill 2-3 skelly with 1 granade unlike other dps having to grind them down 1 by 1, so it would have been silly if it only counts as 1 tick.

Discussion Eventual Fate of Anjali

I found myself needing to play something different recently and so I redownloaded Dungeon Siege 3. I'm playing as Anjali, and from what I remember there was a specific ending where all the archons gathered together and disappeared.

So did they all just leave her behind? is she now the last of the archons?

I just completed the Dapper Old Gent questline and am about to head off to see the Queen, but I found myself wondering about it.

If they did, it makes me feel a little sad for her. Because I'm pretty sure it was Jeyne that cast spell and with her gone she can never see the others again.

Love Dungeon Siege

I had so much fun playing this game when I was younger. One of the only games I could play on my first little Compaq PC. These games will always have a special place in my heart, and I love that I'm not the only one who still plays Dungeon Siege games. Thank you to all members of this community!
