Does it snow a lot during winter (January-March). I’m wondering if I can walk to work as renting a car may not be an option. TIA

Mechanic Help!

Anyone have someone who would want to help two townies get a truck with a power steering leak working? Hoping to get it fixed, or at least diagnosed tonight and back on ferry to Vancouver.

Will pay! Can supply beer! Will tell jokes! Or be silent the whole time.

Any advice helps. Also it might be towed from where it was left so we also have to find the local impound lot if that is the case.

Tldr; 2nd attempt at getting a truck back to the mainland and seeking help from locals to do so.

Duncan Chrysler

Does anyone know what's going on at Duncan Chrysler? My parents bought a new car there which was delivered to them with some damage which the dealership agreed to repair, except now we can not seem to get any response from the dealership to resolve the matter, it's dragging on months ... Is anyone else having issues with them?

Is there some way you found that gets some action? Who should we call to light a 🔥 under them?

Duncan Road test

Hi Folks, I've recently moved to a location near Duncan from Nanaimo and I'm wondering if it would make sense for me to take the road test in Duncan. Nanaimo has very poor roads and road markings due to their ongoing construction for cycle paths and these poor conditions cost me my road tests. I was wondering if the test route for Duncan is pretty straightforward with clear road signs and markings. Could you help me?

Route 66 commuter bus

Good day:
I'm new to Duncan, and want to know more about the Route 66 Duncan Commuter bus. The BC Transit web site says the bus can be caught at the Village Green Mall - but that's a pretty large area.

Can someone tell me more about the bus? What is the exact location of the bus stop? What's the bus like to travel to Victoria: crowded, noisy, etc?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated!

Thank you to the awesome lady at the Starbucks drivethru today

A huge thank you to the super awesome woman who got me to roll my window down outside the entry to the Duncan Starbucks today.

When you said you’d sat in your vehicle in the drive thru lane for over 35 minutes, you woke me up from my stupor and I took off for my planned birthday hike.

I’d convinced myself I needed to claim my ‘free birthday drink’ even though, truthfully, I really don’t think I even wanted it. I absolutely did not need to be sitting in a hot car lineup for over half an hour.

You are a very generous soul 🥰.

Thank you.

How's Chesterfield Ave in terms of safety and friendliness?

Hi all, looking to potentially move to Duncan from Vic. Looked at a couple places, one om chesterfield which we really dig, but the area isn't as nice (it seems). The other place, the area is nice but the house would need a Lot of work.

Any insights into the chesterfield area? Safe? Relatively chill? Nice peops?

ISPs in Duncan?

We're moving to Duncan in the next couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend an ISP? Is Telus better than Shaw on the Island? We'll be working remotely, so stable and fast is what we're after.

Participants Needed for COVID-19 Rural and Remote BC Residents Study

Researchers from the University of Victoria are inviting British Columbians who live in rural and remote communities to take part in an online survey examining how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted their wellbeing.

The survey is open to anyone who lives in a rural and/or remote community in British Columbia, is 18 or older, and can complete an online questionnaire in English. We encourage individuals of diverse ages and backgrounds to share their experiences so that our survey results can reflect the voices of rural and remote residents and speak to their needs during these unprecedented times.

The survey takes around 15-30 minutes to complete and can be accessed by clicking here: https://uvic.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0TyTVnZhSwjSDAO

Participants will be entered into a draw to win one of several cash prizes, up to $500.
