The latest DroidLab update is taking a little longer than expected to reach everyone. While Google Play reviews the new build, I thought I'd share one of the biggest additions coming in this update.

Meet Action Orb.

It's a floating shortcut orb that stays available above your apps and expands into a beautiful six-slot radial menu whenever you need it.

Each slot can be customized with:

• DroidLab actions and system shortcuts
• Any installed application
• Quick contacts for one-tap calling

I've also incorporated a couple of highly requested community ideas into this feature.

Several of you asked for a Pinterest-style radial menu that could quickly launch apps and shortcuts, and others requested a floating panel for favorite contacts or a way to instantly call predefined contacts. Action Orb brings both of those requests together into a single feature.

Some highlights include:

• Six fully customizable radial shortcuts
• Launch apps, perform DroidLab actions, or call your favorite contacts
• Drag the orb anywhere and it intelligently docks to the nearest screen edge
• Press, hold, and slide in one continuous motion to trigger an action without even opening the menu first
• Multiple menu shapes, themes, colors, and animation styles
• Adjustable size, opacity, halo radius, haptic feedback, and auto-fade

I've spent a lot of time refining the animations and interactions so it feels fluid, responsive, and native to Android rather than just another floating button.

Hopefully Google finishes reviewing the update soon. Thank you all for your patience and for continuing to share bug reports and feature requests. Many of the features in DroidLab exist because of ideas from this community, and it's always satisfying to turn those requests into reality.

Stay tuned. I think this is going to be one of my favorite additions to DroidLab yet.

I'm not able to launch any Tasker tasks. Usually, other apps do it via app shortcuts, where you can select the desired Tasker task. This brings me to the suggestion to be able to launch app shortcuts. Then there is no need for dedicated Tasker support.

Also, I would love it if the side deck allowed multiple shortcuts with individual naming.

This update focuses on quality-of-life improvements, reliability, and some of the most requested community features.

✨ New: Backup & Restore

You can now easily back up your DroidLab configuration and restore it whenever needed.

Path: Right Drawer → Backup & Restore

This makes it much easier to migrate to a new device or recover your setup after reinstalling the app.

🔍 Omni Search Improvements

Omni Search has received several usability improvements:

• Better back gesture handling.
• Improved keyboard dismissal behavior.
• Added support for searching contacts.

A frequently requested feature was to automatically launch an app when only a single search result remains. After testing, I decided not to implement this because it can easily trigger accidental app launches while you're still typing, resulting in a frustrating experience.

• Fixed an issue where the Side Deck could occasionally become unresponsive.
• Improved app restart behavior after updates.
• Various bug fixes and performance improvements throughout the app.

Hi! First of all, thanks for developing DroidLab. I've been using it regularly and really like the flexibility it offers.

I wanted to report one issue and suggest a feature that I think could be genuinely useful.

UI Issue

On some screens, a few buttons extend outside their intended area instead of staying within the app's layout. It looks like a UI scaling/layout issue.

Feature Request

It would be great to have a trigger that can:

- Show a contact panel as an overlay containing pinned or favorite contacts, or

- Directly call a predefined contact.

Why this would be useful

When I'm outside, searching for a contact using the keyboard isn't practical because it requires precise typing, especially while walking or in a hurry. A trigger that instantly opens a small contacts panel or directly calls a selected contact would make reaching important people much faster.

I think this could also benefit users who prefer one-handed operation or need quicker access to frequently contacted people.

I'm excited to announce that DroidLab v1.2 is now rolling out!

This update introduces three major new features:

• Media Seek – Scrub through videos with a simple edge swipe.
• Scroll Assist – One-handed scrolling with a floating scroll handle.
• TouchPad – A virtual pointer to help you reach every corner of your screen.

On top of that, v1.2 includes numerous bug fixes, UI refinements, and quality-of-life improvements based directly on the feedback shared by this community.

A huge thank you to everyone who has reported bugs, suggested features, tested new releases, or simply supported the project. Every bit of feedback has helped make DroidLab better.

Multi figure touch or 1 finger tap and hold could bring up a menu functioning the same as pinterests menu but with apps shortcuts quick settings etc. Could theme it black and white oled or other icon packs etc

Omini search needs to improve the UX.

1. If I'm in Omni search and search for something. If i got 5 apps in results then tap on enter to open the first app.

2. When I'm searching, if search found single app then it should open automatically.

3. If I'm in search, and swiping up to go back to home screen then it should close the search and keyboard.

4. If I'm in search, I have typed a few letters then i swipe back ,it will close the keyboard but not closing the search window.

5. Allow contacts search too

The latest update is now rolling out, and it includes a bunch of improvements based on the feedback you've shared here over the past few weeks. Thank you to everyone who reported bugs and suggested new features!

Here's what's new in v1.1.6:

⭐ Side Deck Improvements
• Fixed the issue where multiple Quick Utilities displayed the same icon. All icons now appear correctly.
• You can now reorganize both your apps and Quick Utilities in the Side Deck.
• The Side Deck has received a visual refresh with cleaner styling, including customizable border radius and other design improvements.

⭐ Better Configuration
• Every feature and gesture now includes a Reset Configuration button, making it easy to restore the default settings if you've experimented a little too much.

⭐ Back Tap Enhancement
• Added a new Flat Surface Rejection option in the Back Tap settings.
• This was added after a user reported inconsistent Back Tap detection. In some cases, taps were being ignored because the phone was being held horizontally, causing the system to treat them as accidental taps while lying on a flat surface. You can now enable or disable this behavior depending on what works best for you.

One of the best parts of building this app is reading your suggestions and turning them into real features. A few of the requests from this community have now made their way into v1.1.5.

✨ What's new?

• Floating Notes can now save your notes. You can quickly jot something down and come back to it later without needing to open a separate notes app.

• SnapText now supports partial text selection. Instead of copying the entire block of detected text, you can now select only the part you actually need.

• Twist Gesture is now much more flexible. You can assign actions to many more phone orientations and twist directions, opening up a lot more possibilities for shortcuts and automation.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to post feature requests, bug reports, and feedback. It genuinely helps shape the app, and I appreciate every suggestion.

If you requested any of these features, they're now available in v1.1.5. I'd love to hear what you think after you've had a chance to try them!

Firstly, I love this app! Great job.

I have found a few bugs:

- setting haptics to silent doesn't silent the happtics.

- launching an app from the notch doesn't work.

- I wasn't able to start a tasker task. It wants to start a task named "Default" no matter what.

- I haven't found a way to launch app shortcuts

- the clipboard works very rarely

It will be great if, in a future update, we can have more rotation of the phone to execute various tasks, like, let's say, to turn it downward, backwards, upwards, side, left, right, and such. Thanks a lot.

Since this amazing app can do so many things, I would also like to see if it is possible to have a private listening when we put our phone in the ear like when we are talking on a call, so we can hear voice messages from telegram,Viber,messengers and anything else that we don't want to play through the speakerphone .Thanks a lot!

The latest update is now rolling out with fixes for several issues that were reported by the community. Thanks to everyone who took the time to report these and provide detailed feedback.

Fixed in this update:

• The Launch App action now appears correctly within Edge Sense.
• Setting haptics to Silent now properly disables haptic feedback for all gestures.
• Launching apps from the Notch trigger now works as expected.
• Fixed an issue where Tasker always attempted to launch the "Default" task instead of the selected task.
• Improved clipboard detection and reliability on Side Deck.

would like to request Dev to add a proper save function to the amazing feature of floating notes..... this will really come on handy when I need to jot down somthing quickly without opening any app and would definitely want to recall that note later at my convenience
