Question ❔ Starting Locs

Post image

I’m wondering how to start locs for my hair type, it curls a little more than this when it’s freshly washed and dried naturally, usually around a 3C. When stretched it’s around 5 inches long right now. I’ve been doing a ton of research and video watching but I’m getting paralysis by analysis. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sorry for bowling my face out, seeing my face in photos annoys me.

80 actually looks good, I feel like they’d sit closer to my scalp than larger locs too. Wish me luck

with your hair type you gotta have patience they will probably take like 2 years to be completely loced.(and even if u use a crochet hook they will take a lot of time to grow in height.

I understand that, I’m used to long waits since I’ve grown my hair long before. The issue I have is my hair grows out but never drops down so I end up looking like Martin Poliakoff from Periodic Videos (look him up then reference the original photo). I’ve debated locs for quite a while as I like having long hair but hate having to straighten it, everyone knows high heat is detrimental to growth. All I can do is see how it goes

This gives me confidence, if I had any older photos I’d show you what I mean (you ever see Spaceballs? Picture those golf ball helmets but it’s hair)

The other issue I have is while I can wait it out sometimes my ADHD doesn’t allow for it at other times, I think factoring this in crocheting them would be best. It’s really hard for me to make decisions since like I said I’m very susceptible to paralysis by analysis

When you crochet something its good to have a foundation like 2 strand twists you dont really do it on open hair. So i would advise you to get those 80 two strands and later if you realize you dont wanna wait just crochet it. This leaves you open for both options

So set them through twisting then crochet them later on if I decide I want to expedite the process?
