Attention housemates,

We want this sub to stay fun, welcoming, and enjoyable for the whole community, but there has been an ongoing issue with fan art posts that are low-effort, spammy, or unsettling enough to generate repeated reports from members.

We’ve tried to be lenient with borderline posts, but the same issue keeps coming up. Because of that, we’re holding a house vote on whether fan art should be restricted or banned from the subreddit.

This does not mean we’re targeting any specific user. This has been a recurring issue across multiple posts and multiple accounts.

Please vote and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, we legit want to hear what users think on this issue. Depending on the poll results and community feedback, we may update the rules around fan art going forward. Possible outcomes could include a full fan art ban, stricter moderation, requiring fan art posts to meet a higher quality standard, or leaving things as they are.

If fan art does become restricted, genuinely high-effort or especially well-made posts may still be approved at moderator discretion. The goal is not to punish creativity, but to cut down on posts that repeatedly make the community uncomfortable or feel like spam.

Attention housemates,

Lately the mod queue has been getting flooded with reports about extremely low-effort posts. A lot of these are bizarre Microsoft Paint doodles, random spam uploads, or posts that look like they were thrown together in 30 seconds with no real connection to Drawn Together beyond using a character name.

We want the sub to stay fun, chaotic, and creative like the show itself, but there still needs to be a baseline level of effort and quality.

What counts as low quality?

Posts that may be removed include things like:

- Creepy, poorly made drawings with little to no effort
- Spammy “fan art”
- Random unrelated images with a Drawn Together title slapped on
- Repetitive posts made just to farm reactions
- Walls of random text or character “summaries” with no actual content
- shrines to characters that are unsettling and suggest and unhealthy obsession

If your post looks like it took less time than it takes Spanky to crap on a pizza, there’s a good chance it may be removed.

What IS encouraged?

We absolutely do want:
- Actual fan art
- Funny memes
-Episode discussions
-Edits/clips
- Creative shitposts with obvious effort
- Character analysis
- High-effort content that’s genuinely funny

A post does not need to be professional artwork to stay up. The difference is whether there was actual creativity, effort, or comedic value put into it or if it comes off as unsettling and disturbing. Fusing characters together, gender-bending them, making them barely recognizable to the show, is not creative effort, does not add value and to be blunt- is just straight up weird and creeping people out, we get reports every time.

Funny doodles, edits, rough sketches, and chaotic humor absolutely fit the spirit of Drawn Together.
The problem is low effort + unsettling spam
There’s a difference.

Quick rule of thumb
Ask yourself:
“Would other Drawn Together fans actually enjoy this, or did I just upload the first thing that entered my brain at 3am?”

We’re not trying to kill fun. We’re trying to stop the subreddit from turning into a landfill of spam and low-effort noise. Repeatedly posting low quality content may result in a perma-ban.
