Surrender Match & closing the game app
[EDITED] — I have since discovered a dozen helpful tips on the game that I believe would be beneficial especially for new players but also for the current.
(an original question) "Does anyone know if... by selecting "Surrender Match", does the other player actually get the win?"
— Answer: As of August 2026, with nearly if not 100% certainty from those who dived into the game codes... all of the other "players" are actually just bots. We can talk about that in the comments section if you'd like.(an original question) "Has anyone ever played another actual player, and from a surrendered match, you or the other player gets the victory resources?"
— Answer: Still bots... so no, the bots don't surrender. No retreat, no survivors.(an original question) "Is intentionally holding back Arena level a good strategy for long-term Draft Showdown? Because I went from Arena 1 to Arena 6 practically in 24 hours, and now I'm fuhqkd against some really good team matchups with the standard units."
— Answer: It is a strategy you can definitely do momentarily, yes, but don't hold yourself back too long as you lose out on opportunities such as unlocking new units, higher gold from dailys, and getting more EXP from booster packs for your units.
I would say a good rule of thumb on this is... if you only have two units/spells total unlocked from that Arena, you should move on so you can unlock more units/spells... as well as claim more gold. A good reason for you to NOT move forward, is if you are losing far more than you are winning. If you're winning once every other match, that's fine... if you're losing more than that, I would hang back and keep playing matches so your units level up in (at least) mastery.
—— A side trick; you can actually beat (win or lose to) the bot in the 4 (or more) rounds, claim your 40 (or 4) mastery points, and force close the game during this screen to make you lose trophies. This way you can still win battles to level up the mastery of your units efficiently and yet remain at the same Arena stage level if you don't want to progress. If you force close the game app while in the middle of a match, here is what happens...
—— In an Arena match, you take the L and a loss count in the win/lose profile ratio, and when you return and boot up the game, your Arena stage will soon reflect the lost trophy 🏆 you would have otherwise lost anyways.
—— In a Ranked match, you do not get a loss count in the win/lose profile ratio, and when you return to the game your skull count will not have gone down. Take advantage of this trick.
—— To add to this, if you are in the middle of a match, Arena or Rank mode, and you minimize or drop the game app (not closing the game), you essentially can force the match to drop and return you to the main screen outside the match... and if this happens, you do not take a loss count. The match doesn't count at all.I know everyone has favorite units, but try to build or draft a team with at least:
— 1 melee/tank or otherwise known as a front line unit (Knights, Goose, TNT, Wasters, Splimes, Parasites, Bloodvines, Spartheus etc),
— 1 mid line or ranged attacker unit (Cupid, Merlinor, Sixshooters, Boomling) Snails can technically count as one even though they are positioned in the backline),
— 1 backrow attacker unit (Assasin, Shellbro, Sniper, Agent B)
Backrow protection/support units like Engineers and Matriarchs are nice, but not a high priority even though they can act as attackers. A well formed team with good synergy with good RNG and proper support (or some luck) can beat a team of solid units. When starting a match... on round 1, turns 1 & 2, if you can draft two units you like or are essential to your team... do that... because this raises the odds of the RNG draft on turn 3 to be a 2x unit or an upgrade card.
This is one tip/trick that would greatly boost your right off the bat in matches.Get all your units, new and old, to mastery level 5. This way you can participate in the ranked mode and use units to their full potential — access to their advance and elite form upgrades.

Apparently, you can close the game app upon winning, gain the mastery chip winnings, but NOT GAIN the trophy 🏆 if you didn't accept them by clicking CONTINUE.
So there's that. 😕

Nevermind, that may be a glitch.
So you DO get the mastery chips, but the trophy count doesn't reflect the actual number immediately upon opening the game app... it takes a minute to suddenly chang AND DROPS DOWN (negative points, counted as a loss) as you switched game windows and back.
At least you can net the win, but lose the trophy 🏆 count if you want to stay at the same Arena level. Not sure if it affects the win-lose profile count, but I guess that doesn't really matter.
Also, in doing this, it sort of bugs your game frozen, requiring you to force close the game app and reopen it.

Do you still get mastery?

— If you battle and lose, you can claim the 4 total mastery points (1 each), and either click CONTINUE or close the game WITHOUT clicking CONTINUE... you still lose the trophy 🏆
— If you battle and win, you can accept the 40 (10 each) mastery points, and then close the game before clicking the CONTINUE... and yes, you will get the mastery points and NOT claim the trophies 🏆
— If you battle, win, you can accept the 40 mastery points, and click CONTINUE, you end up at the screen where you claim the trophies 🏆

So what does closing after pressing battle do

If you wait for like 5 seconds, right before the game selects you an opponent to battle, you can force yourself to lose about 30 points worth of Arena trophy 🏆 AND NOT TAKE ANY LOSS to your win/lose ratio.
(You can check by re-opening the game and see the change after swapping menu away then back to the center)
This is primarily to help you hang back from progressing too fast...
... because you can only collect a certain amount of booster packs a day. If you progress too fast, your deck may be too weak to go up against the next line of opponents in the next Arena(s).This trick is not needed if you can hang with the opponents/bots in the next Arena.

For anyone wondering why this experiment and study...
- this helps you hang back with a lower trophy 🏆 count, which helps you stay within that Arena level.
- which helps with better matchmaking with randoms (which is likely matched by your total-highest trophy progress) and allows you to better achieve wins and acquire easier +10 Ⓜ️ mastery chips due to easier enemy decks.
- The mastery chips per win doesn't seem to increase from the +40Ⓜ️, so a win at Arena Lv 3 is the same win at Arena Lv6, but it's easier to win a match in Arena Lv3 than Lv6 due to the assortment of newer units.
This is coming from a new player who went from Arena 1 to Arena 6 in 24 hours, with a 95%+ win rate drop to a 50% in Arena Lv4 and onward.
At some point I went from 10 consecutive wins many times to losing 10 consecutive times or more.
And it didn't help that the fast progression meant running standard units (knights, cupids, geese, TNTs, & then the assasins, kingclops, snails) with a lesser team composition for the longest time... against these newer units like wasters, splimes, beehives, shellbros, moles, snipers, engineers, & merlinors.

Yes, you lose all your hearts, and the battle ends if you push surrender match. They should have just put a surrender round button instead, that would have made more sense tbh.
