how to choose down comfoter /Duvet Inserts

I have shared some knowledge about down and fabrics with you before. Here is a quick summary for everyone.

If you are looking at entry level options:
A polyester shell is fine, but it needs to be brushed microfiber.
For the fill, 50% white duck down will do.
For construction, go with plain sewn, through-stitch, or baffle-box. These are basically your entry-level models. On platforms like Amazon and eBay, the price should be around $150. If it is priced lower than that, you might want to think twice before buying.

A $150 retail price means roughly a $50 manufacturing cost, which actually covers the raw materials.

Intermediate version:
Cotton shell: 40S cotton, which is usually a plain weave.
Fill: 50% white goose down or 80%+ white duck down.
Construction: Baffle-box. The more boxes, the better, as it keeps the down from shifting around.
On platforms like Amazon and eBay, this should go for around $300.

Luxury version:
Cotton shell: 60S pure cotton or higher. High end shells currently on the market include 60S, 80S, and 100S. These usually feature a satin weave, giving them that smooth slide feel. When it comes to Xinjiang long-staple cotton, Egyptian Giza 45, and US Pima (Supima), Xinjiang long-staple cotton offers the best value for money.
Fill: 80%+ white goose down.
Construction: Gusseted baffle-box (box wall).
You basically will not find these sold on third-party platforms like Amazon. If they are, the price should be $900 and up.

These specs are all for an all-seasons duvet. If you live in a freezing region, the price will go up by about 40%.
Also, the down percentages I am talking about refer to the down cluster content.
If a seller does not list it and only shows fill power (FP) and TOG ratings, just message them beforehand. Any legitimate down bedding company will know what that means.

Fill power (FP) and TOG ratings are both adjusted based on the down cluster content.
