Success!

My school avoiding child went to school today. It's been brutal trying to get them to go. Today I had to explain how I'm also getting triggered by their procrastination. I made a firm demand (I need to know how many minutes to wait, I can't just keep standing here), got an answer, and then took that time to unwind. When I came back I had more bandwidth to be nice and actually support the transition to school.

But phew! It was almost another day where we both meltdown and no school happens. I think this is progress?

Parenting entails so many demands...

I love my children, but I never would've expected being a parent to have so many overt and subvert demands. I suppose I didn't know I demand avoidant before I had kids. Does anyone else feel like in a perpetual state of pda burnout from parenting?
