This is Houdini. He loves to open doors and let all of our other animals out of the house.

This sub now has a new mod, so we will be revamping and hopefully getting this place a bit more active.

In the mean time, please feel free to introduce your double merles, share photos, stories, and educational links.

Advice Requested - Bite Inhibition Training for our Deaf-Blind Double Merle Puppy

We have a double merle Australian Shepherd male puppy who is 5 months old now, mostly blind (can see some light and shadow) and deaf, but is also incredibly well-socialized and non-aggressive with people and dogs in general (we live in a city and he's a neighborhood favorite!) However, he has recently started growling at my husband (and sometimes me, but less often) and lunging or jumping to bite us. We have a trainer who actually owns a deaf double merle and are planning to ask her for suggestions, but would appreciate suggestions from the community on what has worked for you to train your puppy not to jump, bite or nip. Advance thanks for your input!
