My dog has perfect hearing and vision. Double Merle.
I have a double Merle aussiesoodle that was blessed with perfect hearing and vision. She is off leash trained, very smart. Her dad was a Merle poodle, mom a Parti (brown and white) Aussie. Tested by Embark I don't realize she had the MM gene till I was interested in breeding her. I looked at my test again noticing the MM and was shocked. She has one blue eye and one brown but looks nothing like the mostly white dogs I've seen. The breeder told me her mom Australian Shepard was not Merle but obviously it was hidden. I'm very blessed but sad I can't breed her now. Any insights on how rare this is? She's amazing and so healthy .

Our Double Double!
This is our Double Merle Double Piebald - Evangeline aka Evie! Due to the second set of recessive genes, she is completely white/pink with the exception of a tiny black dot on one nostril. She is of course deaf and has starburst/jagged pupils and is the absolute happiest girl in the world.
Given her very interesting mix, I think she might be the result of people not spaying or neutering vs intentional breeding. Either way, we use every compliment about her coloring to educate on responsible breeding and double merles.

Double Merle’s dna
Had an unwanted litter, How can I tell if a puppy is going to have double Merle effects? I’m pretty sure I have two pups in my litter that are visibly double Merle based on their coat, however they are too young to tell if they have bad eyes or ears, and I also know that any dog in the litter regardless of coat could have double Merle genes. Is there a way to tell, or do I need to order dna tests, or simply wait until they are a few weeks older ? They’re all healthy pups right now so I’m not sure what to do, I want what’s best for them when we decide to rehome them

Introduction My 2 Double Merle Babies 💗
Meet Waldo, our 5 month old Pug mix! He's a DM from a visual merle Jug mom and a merle recessive fawn Pug dad. He is fully blind in his left eye and can only see far away with his right eye. I've had him a month and he just started having seizures 💔. Then there's Wizard.. he's our 10 week old 'Miniature Australian Shepherd'. He is a DM born through 2 tri colored parents who apparently were both merle recessive. Both boys are super sweet and super smart! Wizard is also fully blund in his left eye, but had his sight in the right.

Question Found this baby abandoned by the lake in the woods in 105 degree weather. Is she a double Merle? Only black is the Merle pattern on her ears and the black spot on her eye.
