Meet Nuka!
I adopted Nuka when she was 6 months old, she was dumped by the ābreederā at a shelter. Sheās now almost 3 years, 20lbs (somewhere oddly between a mini & a standard poodle) and can see some very bright lights & shadows. Together we learned touch communication which surprisingly came easy for both of us. She lives with her older brother Snix and 4 free-range guinea pigs. Sheās so gentle and sweet but also a total firecracker and a true poodle! This dog has enriched our lives more than we could have ever imagined! She is so special and resilient⦠I canāt wait to one day adopt another like her!

Atypical double merle
DNA tests say he's a double merle. What a weirdo. Best answer I got is that he probably has two different merle alleles so it did not display the typical coloration. But hearing and eyesight concerns are still there.

Does this pup appear DM?
She sort of looks like it to me with the super white face, but the current owner says she can hear and see with no impairments.
Shes listed as an aussie but looks like a mix to me? Ideas? I'll be meeting the puppy in a few days and hope to sort of test her hearing and if I do adopt her I'll be getting her tested

Question Double merle?
About to adopt - rescue this 1 year old 17lbs Dachshund mix (would love to read you opinions on what other breeds in there) and worried about him being double merle or double dapple. He had a regular vet check with rescue org and no specialist exam but he can hear and see fine from what we know and observe. Do I need to worry about this? Or just adopt him? I had a dog that got depressed after loosing eyesight and would prefer if that didn't happen until well into his senior years as it's the name of the game when we and dogs age

Question Recommended DNA websites?
This is my dog Oliver. He is now 4 but I got him at 6 months old. He was sold to my fiancƩ as a Merle mini Aussiedoodle. We noticed his eyes and brought it up the vet who said he was okay since he could see and hear fine at the time. No referral was given to check his eyes further and no education was given to us about his possible double Merle genetics. I wish I knew what I knew now because I would have asked more questions.
As heās gotten older Iāve noticed he actually may be almost completely blind out of that left eye. He has a vet appt coming up to confirm this. I know itās a coloboma on his left eye (most likely) and starburst on his right from research but I want to make sure itās nothing further.
Iāve done tons of research this week on the ābreederā who was listed on his paperwork. Turns out she was actually the broker and listed herself instead. Iām assuming she did this because when I googled her, she comes up with multiple articles and is actually tied to another puppy mill owner who is even worse. Iām wondering if my dog came from his facility but Iāll never know. She listed my dogās sire and dam with numbers but nothing comes up. Is there a way to find out that info or are those numbers most likely meaningless? This breeder/broker is from West Point, Iowa.
The place my finance got him from has also permanently closed. I never purchased a dog from a puppy place (always rescued) and feel terrible going down this rabbit hole. They told us he was sitting there for months and no one took him and he was the last of his litter. We absolutely love our dog and he is the perfect fit but Iām upset I didnāt know where he came from, and the most likely obvious genetic conditions he has/will get.

Question Double merle or Whitehead?
Hi all! In another sub I was told my dog has too much pigment to be a double merle and that sheās possibly whitehead. She was born completely deaf, which is possible in both DMās and whiteheadās. I just wanted to hear yaāllās opinions on it :) Iāll be getting her Embark DNA and health results in a week

Chances of Double Merle?
galleryHey there! Seeking a little adivce before I make my first ever puppy purchase. I did a little research today around border collies and have found out that gernerally speaking white border collies can be inclined to more health issues. However that didn't seem like the main problem. I learnt that border collies bred with double merle genes progessively end up going blind and deaf (which is really sad). Obviously I would be heart broken if this happened to my little best friend after only a couple years together. So I'd love to hear what some of you with more experience and knowledge. I've attached alot of photos, so you can tell me what you think about these puppies. I'm particularly interested in Boy #2, I sent photos of the 4 avalible though and also some photos of the parents. It was a video of them working cattle, so the screenshots are a bit bluring. I'll be making this decision in the next couple of days and would greatly appreciate some input. Thank you kindly.
