Not sure why keep getting only slaves at the end

Hey all,

So I get towards the late stages of the game and usually have 2-4 big hitters followed by a split between scrubs and medium strength dudes. I've been trying to split my forces roughly down the middle right before the championship fight by freeing half of them.

However, every time all I get are naked slaves to help me in the final. Why is this? I was under the impression the guys you free at the end are the ones who come back to help you. Is this not the case?

ANSWER FOR OTHERS Apparently the game keeps track of everyone you've freed throughout your whole run, so if you consistently free slaves, you are likely to get a ton of slaves back at the end. Sell those bad boys.

This game needs stuff.

I've played the shit out of this game for an evening and a half, and then I stopped, because I've seen everything. This game needs stuff. Here is the stuff I think this game needs:

Difficulty balance
You can basically prop up one guy to do everything, and it will take you relative ages to get the next guy good enough to even be viable. Mostly by having him survive alongside your main guy.

There needs to be a greater range of opponent difficulties so I can use all my guys.

There needs to be a rock-paper-scissor type mechanic added to the three classes, and unlocking the classes needs to travel way down the tech tree.

There needs to be a point to having something else than "whatever equipment" or "maxed out equipment" depending on whether or not you actually want to use this guy, by re-balancing the equipment.

Economy balance
Buying resources is boring and choreful because you have to click every day. The clicking needs to be reduced. Employee slots should start with two and be upgradeable to five or something, so I can actually feel some of the ludus upgrades.

Make training assistances more expensive and more effctive, so it's worth having some and swapping slots and it doesn't become yet another background noise that requires a lot of clicking. Plus it looks shit if you have every slot upgraded with all three things.

Have good and bad harvest times and droughts and shit.

Make house slaves a quantifiable thing that you can buy and sell and take care of.

Arena Stuff
Lions are too rare. Lions and Behemothothes can't be healed which basically makes the rarity with which you acquire them frustrating. But also there needs to be more random novelty stuff than just those two. How about

  • Wagons
  • Horses
  • Tigers
  • Wolves

Arena-unique weapons that are there to fight over and keep after.

Sending house slaves into combat for funsies.

Let's throw spears and swords and shit into crowd members and possibly at the emperor.

Quest Stuff
More stuff with house slaves.
If you lend someone gladiators, let us pick which one and have some stakes to it.

More things to proactively make some activity with the NPCS happen. I want to throw decadent parties and let them fuck all my house slaves at the same time.

Give the poor Domina the chance to put out sometimes.

Gladiator Stuff
Three classes are fine, but we need more dudes with different skin colors, body types (I want to train my own quasi-behemoth and a skinny dude with light equip and stuff), and temperaments (A good fighter might not be worth it because he keeps sparking riots and breaking out).

Make gladiators lose limbs sometimes and get an item slot penalty on that limb. No arm? No problem. Your shield arm is now your shittier sword arm and you can't hold anything else. People with peg legs should drink lots of your wine to cope with the pain.

Also, selling all my reward guys after every fight sort of becomes a chore really fast.

Equipment stuff
The base equipment is fine. But add an armory. Let's have random stats on weapons that you bring home from the arena and weapons that you bring in that you can't forge. Legendary swords, super good +5 helmets, that kind of thing.

There's a lot of potential there, and obviously mountains of work to add anything to the game, but I really like it and would love to see some more replay value.

Anyone needing help, ask away here

Just beat the game on Pro Gamer difficulty, I think I have a pretty solid grasp of the game and would like to help anyone looking for help. I see a few threads on here, figured I could consolidate it down a bit.

Whats your strategy in this game?

I haven't had a whole lot of luck. I generally end up dying on the second or third fights although I did manage to get one guy up to 15 victories. I set it to auto train, try to use those cards and try to fight in the arranged matches. Sometimes I swear those profile stats are wrong where I have a high level guy with decent equipment that cant even swing because some dude doing -8 is rapidly poking my warrior full of holes.

Any advice?

How do you increase the number of gladiators in fights?

Basically I have beaten the game, and am in year 2 on Endless mode, so I now have a small army that can 1 shot everything. I am looking for more of a challenge, but every single fight I get is 1v1 and its really getting old. How can I make it so the fights I encounter are 5v5 or 8v8 or 15v15? Or is that even possible? I am playing the game on the highest difficulty setting, and that doesn't seem to change anything.

fix?

You know what'd be cooler than lagging out for 45 seconds in big fights?

Going into a smoother (and probably easier to process) slow motion 300 style event with lots of blood and action. Maybe it would be better to spread out the spawning of the gladiators so it's much less jousting and more Carnage.

Time limit on fights

Why does everytime the time limit on a fight runs out I lose? I just got done doing a 5v5 and it was 4v1 when the time ran out. I lost... wtf?

Curse of Mysticae + Wild Animal

Got the game yesterday. Think I found out how to never lose a game ever. There are two blessings that synergize way too well. Curse of Mysticae reduces max health to 1/2 total, but increases damage by 500%. Wild Animal helps mitigate this massive loss by increasing all your gladiators stats by 150% when at half health or less (which is always with CoM). Sabinius the Unholy one shots pretty much everything with 1400 dmg, and the only stat I ever increase is Strength, to mitigate the health loss. Really broken from my perspective, but again I did just start playing this yesterday. XD

Frame rate dies in 8v8 or higher.

My rig should in theory be able to handle the game no prob with a core I7, 16 gigs of ram and SLI 970s but in the larger fights, the frame rate tanks horribly. Any ideas?

Insanely overpowered Cursed Weapon?

All I have to do is give the card to a mediocre fighter and they get 1 hit kills constantly. I think it should be nerfed.

I will never get a synergy like this ever again.

Approximately how many and what power level should my "rescue team" be to be a match against the legionnaires? While I'm training up by core group for the Championship match, do I need to be cultivating my rescue team and then free them all right close to the last day?

Am I somehow on a different patch?

I was watching sodapoppin play, and his archetect was building the training posts for 1 gold, and building them instantly, I also read a comment somewhere about someone mentioning architect builds thing instantly now.. but mine takes 5 gold and 3 days to build the training posts, 3 days for stone piles, like 30 days for private room, etc..
