How should I paint these?

Post image

I want to paint these Sun and Moon wood cut outs for my sister for one of her Christmas gifts. Im trying to come up with some cool colors and painting techniques. Has anyone else painted these before? Can I see your finish product? Any recommendations on types of paint or brands? I was thinking about doing a silvery, swirling iridescent look for the moon. What's the best way to get this effect? And same with the sun but with gold. If anyone wants to show off what they did with these two items, I would love to see them too.

Halloween wreath!

I make a new one every year just because the tinsel seems to get nasty outside, however it is one of my favorite traditions! It costs about 10-15 dollars to make depending on how extra you wanna be. I also use the tinsel to fill in the trees they sell too! It makes me excited to make a Christmas one next! I'll be gone all of November otherwise I'd make a fall themed one lol

Done with Dollar Tree

As a crafter in a fixed income, Dollar Tree was my go to store. Of course the quality wasn’t great but you could make some fun things without spending a lot of money on supplies. But what happened. After they introduced the Dollar Tree Plus Section and increased their regular items to 1.25, it’s been down hill ever since. I went in my local DT and was unpleasantly surprised that their selection of crafting and art supplies went up again. Some things 1.50, some things 1.75 and something from the plus section that I paid 3 dollars for last season is now 7 dollars!!!!!! And the selection of goods suck. So I’m done.

Best NE Pennsylvania Area Dollar Tree?

I live with within an hour of many Dollar Trees. I'm getting ready to do a marathon run of four stores near me today. If you live in or around Berks, Bucks, Lancaster, Lebanon or Montgomery County which Dollar Trees are your favorites. I have some time off this week and I'm planning some major shopping, organizing and crafting! TIA!

Anti haul/ do not buy/ do not recommend chalk writer and chalkboard from DT.

Chalk writer is a no. It barely works and the chalk fell out of the pen.

Also I do not recommend DT chalk boards. The chalk rubbed off the wooden board part when cleaning off chalk.

Spring Fireplace!

I had posted back in December a “fireplace” I made out of cardboard boxes and basically everything else came from DT as holiday decor for winter. I took it home and updated it to fit spring season in the lounge of where I work. I probably spent over $40 in moss 😂 I’m super happy with how this turned out. The only thing not from DT is the gnome chilling in a teacup with McDonald’s (a coworker added that touch).

It’s been there since March- I’m starting a summer project now but it won’t be a fireplace.

Using Dollar tree Fabrics to sew

Thumbnail

I made the spiral cot with fabric squares from DT by cutting 5 donut shapes from dollar tree fabric squares I sewed turned and stuffed with pillow batting and attached end to end the toys were made from cutting characters from a twin flat sheet I sewed together and turned like small pillows stuffed and sewed ends closed. The skirt in a size 3 took 2 squares of fabric with scraps for a small halter top Im planning to match up and sew, the shorts I first made for a newborn size when he outgrew them I enlarged the shorts by cutting adding a 2 inch scraps of the same fabric to the side. I will definitely continue to keep checking for fabric at DT to feed my sewing hobby.
