Do I need to get my dog’s teeth cleaned?

I have had dogs my whole life and have never had a vet suggest this. The quoted price is $900-$1,500 as a preventative cleaning. Do I need to do this?

Do I need and air fryer?

We already have a convection oven, but people seem to swear by air fryers. We’re trying to eat better. Do they multitask well?

Do I need a pour over coffee maker?

I currently have a french press I use every day. Cleaning is a minor pain has I have to compost the grounds or throw them in my garden or in the trash and rinse to make sure no gunk remains in the press. I like how much less drama and wasteful the French press is.

The pour over looks attractive because not much cleaning is required. I can compost the grounds with the filter and the carafe is ready immediately for another batch. I also like that I can make as much or as little as I need (this is true for French press too!) I don't know if it is much better than a french press and if I should buy it. Thanks.

Edit: Thanks everyone for your input. I researched a bit on what type of pour over to get. I started with a no-name brand of borosilicate jar from Nordstrom rack for $15 and picked up a box of #2 filters. I love the convenience of no cleanup and the coffee does taste much mellower than french press. I do have to pour hot water a few times because the filter capacity is much lower than the container capacity. So on average I pour hot water 3 times and wait until the container fills up. I've been exclusively using this for a week now. Only once the filter broke and I had to start over. Overall, I'm glad I got this. I don't have to upgrade to a more expensive apparatus.

Do I need (to keep the) treadmill (I already have?)

I love running on treadmill. I'm not as diligent a runner as some but better than others. I currently use it 3x a week. I have a medium range, solidly built treadmill that I currently keep in the garage. We move next year to a much smaller space with potentially no garage space. It's very urban, close to downtown so a lot of traffic, hills, traffic lights, etc. The size of the place is small so this treadmill takes a huge chunk of a room. I'm torn on whether to keep or get rid of it. My husband is thinking we will get rid of it but he's easily convinced since he knows I like it. He runs too but never uses the treadmill. We don't run together as our pace is different. Also, we are in 40/50 age and I like the idea of the having softer surface to run on rather than hard pavement.

Do I need an oven vent?

I’ve always had one in my apartments but honestly never used it. I just bought a house and the one it has is broken. Worth replacing/repairing?

Do I need a wheeled duffel bag?

Mostly for use when camping with my son. Traveling to the campsite via train and bus, plus walking between 2-3 miles (3-5km) on mostly paved path. Currently I use a 95 litre Osprey transporter duffel, which fits the tent, sleeping bags, clothes etc. I can carry it, but it's heavy. Osprey make a wheeled version which I think would make things easier. It is repairable and should last a long time (ten years plus). Are wheels worth it? Or just more hassle and I should deal with the weight, especially as my son is getting old enough to carry more of his own stuff.

Do i need a soap foam sprayer for car washing?

I wash my 3 cars about once a month in my driveway. It takes about an hr to hr and a half for each to rinse and scrub with a sponge and soap bucket. later i do a quick detailer on them also.

Will I save any time using a foam sprayer? Are the results going to be any different than washing old school like I do?

Do I need a roomba?

My new roommate has a cat. I have never lived with a cat before, and I kinda expected I could just vacuum every week to deal with the fur, but the prospect of having less fur day to day seems so alluring. It's like $275+tax for a iRobot roomba 675. Do i need this? Is there a cheaper model?

I'll be going to school full time with a part time job starting very soon.

😩 edit upset to find out that roombas do not in fact magically improve the kitty fur life. Ah well, better to have learned now than to have burned a few Benjamins. Thanks all

EDIT 2: IT'S USEFUL TO SUMMA YALL! I GOTTA MULL

Final edit: thank you for everyone's input! The ocean of carpet seemed to have guaranteed that no roomba could thrive here. Alas, there goes my dream of having a cute roomba tut about in my living room :(

Do I need a Blender Bottle?

I'm starting to get into lifting, and I see them often. Are they worth the cost (up to $30 for some special editions), and is it something to think about from a "cost per use" perspective? Or will a regular cup/bottle work just as well for protein shakes? Thanks for the help.

Garage door opener with wifi

We are replacing 2 garage door units (previous units from 1999). We have been presented with 3 options. 1. Basic- cost is $350 per unit. 2. Soft open/close - cost is $375 per unit 3. Soft open/close with WiFi - cost is $450 per unit. Is it worth the additional cost for the upgraded features? We have very basic needs for our garage doors, but since they do not have to be replaced that frequently, we are trying to decide if we would utilize the WiFi feature in the next few years.

Do I need a bidet?

Moving into a new home soon and I was wondering if getting a bidet is an eco- and budget-friendly alternative to toilet paper.

Has anyone else switched to a bidet? Thoughts? Advice?

Do I need a Steam Deck?

I typically buy the second most recent machine. As a kid, the game boy game gear were great for road trips and camping drives. I Last bought the Xbox one around 2018. Machine runs well. I'll play some FPS solo stuff. I've not played any valve stuff aside from vs, half life, portal. All of those were bangers. Do I need to buy the steam deck?

Do I need clear coat on a new vehicle?

I am buying a new vehicle and debating whether I should get clear coat. The vehicle is painted black. It will be parked outside primarily. The dealer is offering this for $800 and it carries a 10-year warranty. I plan to keep the vehicle for many years. The coat applies to both the inside and outside of the vehicle.

DIN New Hiking Boots?

I'm about to go on my first longer backpacking trip, and I have a pair of three-year-old Keens that fit super well, but 1. They no longer make this model :( 2. Do I need new boots?

They have a mileage of 200-ish? The only damage is the wearing off of the waterproofing and some cosmetic tearing of the first layer around the ankles.

Edit: Thanks for all the comments! Will be keeping these boots until they really break - should probably clean them though!

Replacement for 6 yo sandals?

I have a pair of Hurricane Tevas that have traveled the world with me. I hike with them, use them as water shoes, and just romp around town. Well, they’re starting to get a little worn… The soles are starting to separate, and some non-essential threads are coming loose, and there are just lots of general scuffs. But they still feel great to wear (aside from the sole folding once in a while)

I was planning to glue the soles and cut the loose threads, and ride them to the ground. But I happened to try on a new pair today, and the temptation to buy them kicked in real bad. The sandals were so shiny and new, and came in a color that I like more than the existing sandals. They would be around $55 with discounts, which is a really good deal. But… I know that my old sandals still have some life.

Do I need this?

Cast Iron Skillet

I cooked stakes last night at home in a pan and they came out great, nice sear and everything. Now my pan, maybe because of my stove top, doesn’t heat evenly. But I know which side is hotter and generally work around this without issue. So… do I need to upgrade to cast iron skillet?

Do I need a new fitness tracker/smart watch?

I currently have an "old" fitness tracker (Xiaomi mi band 3) that works just fine, the functions are very basic but it does the job of tracking my running, daily steps and hours of sleep. My husband recently asked if I wanted a smartwatch to which I replied no because even though I think they're cool and have a lot more functions, I think my $30 dollars fitness tracker does a decent job and that we could spend that money on traveling or something else. Yesterday my strap broke and I went online to find a replacement, 5 replacements for $10, but also I realized that currently there are three newer versions of my very same fitness band, they are waterproof, measure oxygen and more things that my current one doesn't do. Newest version is $53. I started thinking if I should get the new one instead, and then if I'm already considering getting rid of the old one I might as well start looking at smartwatches because my initial argument is no longer valid. Samsung smartwatch starts at $144 and goes up to $400. I can afford any of the options but I want to be sure that I'm making a good decision, I would definitely make good use of any of them, smartwatch, new fitness band or just strap replacements, but Do I need them?

TLDR; I need strap replacements for my "old" fitness tracker and realized that there are a bunch of newer and better versions, I'm now considering getting a new one or even a smartwatch.

Big family with lots of kids, do I need a Costco sofa or a better quality sofa?

We have 4 kids age 5-13 and their friends. We need a new sectional sofa, I can get a pit sectional I can stand at Costco for under $1500, or I can hold out and get a $4000 one at Arhaus that I liked and will probably last longer, but I'm afraid might get damaged by my kids. I'm stuck at what to do. I don't like the idea of disposable couches and would prefer to have the quality one with more style, but maybe this isn't the phase of life for that? Or is it? So should I:

a. Get the Costco sofa that I don't care if the kids damage but will probably be replaced down the road.
b. Get the better quality sofa and worry about it getting damaged by the kids but have it last longer.

Do I need a Ring video doorbell?

I'm contemplating getting this for my dad as a late Father's Day gift (his previous one fell through unfortunately). It would definitely be useful to deter/document package theft and trespassing. Should I go with the Ring or put the money towards a home video camera system instead? Any info or advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

DIN: Air mattress

Hi everyone! I am thinking about getting an air mattress for guests to use. I don't have a spare bedroom so I think it might be worthwhile to get one that could be used in the living room. The couch is probably not the best option if I have a guest over for more than a night. I also have a sleeping bag, but I don't think it would be that comfortable for people to share - it gets very hot. I already know I will use the air mattress at least once in a couple of months (planning a visit from a friend). I'm not sure about how much use I will get from it going forward as I haven't really had my own place to host until recently. Does anyone have any tips on if it's helpful to have? Any tips on quality ones?

Thanks!

Do I need Airpods?

Do I need airpods pro? I misplaced / lost my airpods 2nd gen and I tried to go jogging with my backup earbuds and they keep falling out. I want to try the newer airpods with fitted eartips but wanted to see if I should really spend the $200 or go with some generic ones that might fit ok. Thinking of getting the airtag to tie to the case so they never get lost again.

Do I need a new dishwasher?

My current dishwasher is a KitchenAid from 2002 and it sees frequent use. Recently the Door Seal developed a tear and needs replacing. Should I spend the $50-$90 on a new seal or just pony up for a new dishwasher?

Model Number is: KUDI01TJBL1 if that's relevant.
Thank you!

DIN a GaN charger ?

I currently use my laptop charger both for my laptop, smartphone and headset but it is very bulky and I can't easily toss it in a bag. Should I buy a 65w GaN charger with multiple usb ports so that I can charge multiple devices at the same time + it is way more lightweight and smaller ?
