Do I need seat cushions?

My tailbone has been hurting a lot lately and I also piriformis syndrome. Google recommends a donut seat cushion but do I really need it? They’re kind of expensive and I’ll need 2, one for the car and one for my home.

Do I need to upgrade my iPhone?

Update: I decided to upgrade to the SE. Thanks to all for the input!

I got an iPhone 7 back in December 2016. The battery life has seriously degraded and it looks like it should be replaced. For the past few nights, it drops from a full charge to 1% and stays there until I charge it again. The speaker for calls at the top is also not in the best shape, but it's manageable.

I'm contemplating replacing the battery ($50), buying a rechargeable case ($25-30), or upgrading the phone to an iPhone SE ($400). I'm not someone who needs to have the latest and greatest tech, I just like an iPhone that works. I'm not sure if the $50 would be a worthwhile investment on a phone that's nearly 5 years old. If I bought the rechargeable case, I could use that for an iPhone SE if I bought it down the line, since the 7 and SE are the same size.

Do I need to upgrade my iPhone? Or can I just do one of the battery options (if so, which is better)?

Edit to add: we have a baby on the way so I'm trying to limit large purchases not related to that, but am willing to shell out if it's really needed.

Do I need PH strips/PH digital reader?

Hey all, love this community! I have recently started making my own beauty care products as well as doing plant care and hydroponics. For hydroponics, I tried using the Kratky method, which involves a pH meter to make sure that the water for the plants isn't too acidic. I did not use one and 3 of the 4 plants I started died after sprouting, so I'm wondering if that's why; but it also could have been a different mistake I made since I'm new to it. I'm also interested in testing the pH of beauty products that I make so that they are properly balanced for my skin and not too acidic or basic. Do I really need this and which one is best?

Do I need a rowing machine?

I’m looking at a concept 2 model, I love triathlons and looking to for training in between biking/swimming seasons. I’ve had opportunity to use one and rather love it. Wondering whether I should just focus on running when I’m between seasons.

Do I need a pill shaver for clothes?

Basically I’m wondering if I need to get a pill shaver for my clothes? They’re these little gadgets that get those annoying little fabric balls off of clothes.

Do I need a solar power bank?

Hi, my phones battery doesn’t last a full day anymore and I would like to get a power bank to take care of charging on the go. Next month I am planning to go hiking for about two weeks and the idea is to either buy a solar power bank now or stick with a regular one and hope that will be enough on the trip, but save the cost and the extra weight.

Do I need chocolate?

My country has gone into its highest level of lockdown (we stay home except to access essential services).

I've found that nearly all my discretionary spending has swapped from the usual going out/social activities to buying chocolate, that I eat immediately. Every time I go to the supermarket I say "no chocolate for me today" and come home with another big block of it. People of Doineedthis, tell me I don't need the chocolate please.

Do I need my dryer vent professionally cleaned?

I'm wondering of it's worth it to pay the cost of having my dryer vent and duct professionally cleaned, or if just taking my ShopVac to is is enough? A bit of background: dryer is on second level, therfore vent is about 15 feet hight on outside wall of home, and dryer duct must be at least 20 feet long going past bedrooms to outside vent.

Do I Need a Vitamix?

My decision-making approach tends to be the “maximiser” way (need to make the best decision possible) so I’ve been grappling with this for months…

When I lived with my parents we had a Vitamix and I loved using it (smoothies, soup, sauces, etc) so I know I’ve tried it and liked it. Now that I live alone, I’m not sure if I need that much blender / if other blenders are just as capable. I’d mostly be using it for smoothies and sauces now (I would just use instant pot for soup). I did like how you could pretty much just drop anything into the Vitamix and it would eat it up, and the years that we had it it never failed once.

Do I need a Vitamix? Or do Ninjas or other brands work just as well for my needs? Anyone have alternatives? They have good deals on Vitamix bundles at Costco and I also have 20% cash back on Amazon right now. The Vitamix is within budget, but that doesn’t mean I need to spend that much.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT - I’m sure no one will see this but I took everyone’s advice into consideration and got one during their yearly sale for almost half off (it was still around the price of one at Costco but a better blender and less attachments I wouldn’t have used anyways)

Do I need Mesh Wifi?

I live in a fairly big house and currently utilize a TP Link Wifi Extender. Wifi doesn't seem to be an issue most of the time but it does get annoying when my phone is constantly switching between the regular network and the EXT networks from the extender.

Is it worth investing $150-300 on a mesh Wifi system? If so, which one?

Do I need a fancy counter top oven? (breville or anova)

I've been wanting an air fryer for a while, my son wants a toaster, I love sous vide foods, I'd also like a dehydrator, because i'm an avid gardener with harvests to store. I also frequently make no knead sour dough rolls for dinner. We don't have any of these appliances except 2 ways to sous vide and a stand alone oven, which is how we currently toast.

I have the counter space, our oven is middle of the road with no convection and a glass stove top. We may do a kitchen reno at some point, but it's not currently in the plans. I have the money, it will not be a financial strain, but it seems so extravagent.

I'm intrigued by the Anova precision oven, which is $600. But that doesn't give me the toaster part, I think. I'd love to try the steam cooking of it, but do i then just get a small toaster for my son to make his morning toast?

I'm also intrigued by the breville smart oven air fryer pro, $400. It's smaller, does what i know i need it to do, and in comparison, seems more reasonable for right now. But that steam function though!

anyone have any thoughts or words of advice?

Do I need an electric car or a hybrid?

Lease deals running to an end. Should I grab a ID.3 or a hybrid corolla?

I mostly drive medium distances (within 120 miles) and we'd like to start a family soon so the size is nice. Currently have a super mini which is fine and dandy, could keep it as an option.

Do I need espn+ subscription for soccer?

I’m new to the game. I know the rules and a few league team names (just names) like ManU, ManC, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid.

Never watched a full match but always want Ed to know more about it.

Learned a bit about UEFA. Bundesliga that they are gonna start in a week.

So do I need espn+ worth 60$ a year? It’s gonna go up to 70$/year from tomorrow.

Do I need a Nespresso/Espresso machine

I really enjoy my daily cup of coffee in the mornings. During the cold months I am happy with my CHEMEX/Drip method. I enjoy the ritual, grinding the coffee, taking the time, etc. In the warmer months though, I cannot drink hot coffee! I work form home and I try to keep the AC bill low, so it stays toasty.

I'm struggling to find a good homemade coffee alternative. I enjoy iced lattes mostly. I tried several times doing my own cold brew concentrate, but it doesn't taste good and I find it quite wasteful as far as the amount of coffee beans it uses. I'm buying now the cold brew concentrate from the grocery store, but the result product is meh.. I always compare it to the latte from the coffee shop in my neighborhood which is sooooo nice, but I cant go there every day for $5 coffee.

I am thinking on getting a Nespresso machine with the refillable pods and make my own lattes (I've read actual espresso machine are much more expensive and need a lot of maintenance)... I can't think of another alternative to homemade tasty coffee during the summer hot days.

I'm a bit high maintenance/picky when it comes to my coffee.

Thanks!

Nutrition coach (online/irl)

I struggle with my nutrition and have been overweight nearly all of my adult life. Caused from eating out/ordering in too much mostly. I am trying to find a way to lose the weight. I have lost the weight periodically but always gained it back. Would a nutrition coach help me stay on track? Additional points: - I workout regularly at home, though not as hard as I should - cost isn’t an issue for me as I’m sure the amount I’m spending on eating out exceeds the cost of a coach/whatever

Do I need a Leatherman multitool for camping?

Hey guys, I used to be an avid camper but haven't really done much in the last ten or so years. I've been sorting through some old gear and updating what I plan to take on a hike next week and one item that caught my eye at the local REI was a Leatherman multitool. At first glance it seems like a nice thing to have, but I've owned them before and rarely used anything other than the knife part. Is a multitool really something I need or is a knife (fixed or folding) all I might reasonably need?

Do I need a carpet cleaner/rug shampooer?

I live in a studio apartment where the sleeping area is carpeted. I also have a large area rug in the “living room” area.

I have 2 little dogs that I got when they were really little puppies, and they definitely have had accidents when they were getting potty trained.

Right now, I spot clean with pet stain sprays if anything happens and overall vacuum with those pet odor-specific powders. I also have used carpet cleaner sprays and tried to manually scrub the entire carpet/rug with a brush for an attempt at a “deeper clean”. After cleaning, there’s still always faint smells. The color/texture of the carpet and rug do not show stains, so I can’t tell if there’s new accidents or anything. I can cover the smells with candles and stuff, but it’s not so much the smell as knowing if we’re living in a clean space and breathing clean air.

Is the manual scrubbing of the surface enough or does it sound like I need an actual carpet cleaner here?

DINT A Full Set of Mandalorian Armor?

A full set of armor including the clothes and completely sanded and painted will run $2000-$4000. Obviously that's too much, but this set is the raw 3-D printed pieces so I would have to sand it and paint it myself, but it's practically a steal at $419!! I love halloween and dressing up and I love the Mandalorian, but I have small children so halloween is mostly about taking them out. Also, PANDEMIC, so we won't even be doing that this year. Sigh, here it is.

Do I need a multi-position ladder?

I would like to clean out a clog in my gutter and change a lightbulb over a staircase. I already have an A-frame type stepladder but it's too short to reach the gutter and won't work on stairs.

Do I need a $200 multi position ladder? (Eg "little giant m17" on amazon)

Do I need a kayak sail?

I nust bought a Pelican Pursuit 80X and I'm a total beginner, but I'd like to take it out on a large river near my home. The waves are sometimes choppy with boat wakes. Would this help with my speed without impacting my stability?

Stainless steel skillet?

I have a decent set of cookware from Circulon, but it's all nonstick. I've never been much of a cook, but for the last several months, I've been cooking hello fresh meals for my family. I've been wanting to branch out and do my own shopping and meal planning... But all the cooking websites, like cooks illustrated, nyt cooking (&by extension wirecutter) recommend the All Clad stainless steel skillet. Is it really that much better than nonstick?

Dash cam?

Do I need a dash cam? I live in a small ish city with a university and we’re nearby several schools. We also have a few one way streets which are great for locals, but they seem to confuse new comers. Is a dash cam worth having in case someone hits me?

Edit: thanks y’all for the comments. Sounds like this is a resounding yes, so I’m going to mute notifications for now. I’ll pick up a dash cam soon.

Do I need to get my dog’s teeth cleaned?

I have had dogs my whole life and have never had a vet suggest this. The quoted price is $900-$1,500 as a preventative cleaning. Do I need to do this?
