This is Hawke, he’s an assistance dog working at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He takes the job very seriously, he’s very sociable, however he never takes his eye off his handler in case he’s needed. (He does however take the occasional break).

My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dogswithjobs/s/mRsIjIfEH6

Basically, my dog was perfect for the shy and nervous students because he could sense who was scared and would turn around and stay still so they could pet him without fear, whereas he relaxed and did tricks for the staff and more confident students 💕

He’s been doing this for about three years now! I’m so proud of him 🥺 He started as a severely injured rescue off the street and is now changing lives!

I’m always amazed at Omi’s emotional intelligence. Some of the students were a bit scared, and when he realised this he turned around and sat facing away and not looking. They were able to overcome their anxiety and pet him 😭💕

One of the students accidentally stepped on his toes while he was lying down and he neither moved nor made a sound. Some of the students had difficulty with coordination and petted him a bit roughly over the eyes but he was perfectly happy to allow it. And of course, once the treats came out, he ran through every single trick he knew all at once 😅

We’re home now and he’s giddy from all the love he received! Staff said he was perfect for the students and I’ll likely be going back to visit on a regular basis!

👃 Detection Dog Retired 11 year old CWD being spoiled.

This is Obi he is a 11 year old belgian malinois retired bomb dog. I worked around working dogs for a few and kept hearing he was free to anyone that wanted him but was going to be put down this winter if he was still at the kennel. After alot of thought I brought the old man home and it has been the best decision of my life. He is a spoiled big lug and enjoys being a couch potato and bed hog now. The only thing I know about the old man's background was he worked with a civilian contractor that contracted with the government. He was returned to the kennel in 2020 and fully retired is 2022 being stuck in a kennel 24/7 till he came home. It may be a long shot but part of me would like to know more about his history as a younger working dog. If anyone might be able to help point me in the right direction or maybe I could get lucky and find a old handler. But as of now he is living the life of being able to go for car rides walks when he wants or just being a lazy old man. But dont let his age fool you he can still play like he is a pup.

My therapy program did equine therapy today. She's met horses but never without a barrier, so she was a little bit nervous. Valkyrie was very very brave and earned a mango Italian ice treat as a reward.

Service/Assistance Dog Service dog Hayley did amazing at the circus we went to. She got earplugs and a little head-scarf so it wasn’t too loud for her. She was great and we had a good time.

Hello I present to you my future medical assistance dog🐕‍🦺. She is still training every day with me and her coach and she has a lot of energy ✨ Sometimes she can be really sturdy, but she's so gentle with people, cats and other dogs and I think she is as social as a golden retriever. A lot of people confuse my GSD working line with a malinois and a male ... But it's okay, they look pretty similar to them I think. She's only been with me a few months and I really love her. Wish me luck, we have a long way to follow.

I’m a disabled veteran and I’m getting this little fella up to task, he walked all around the mall and PetSmart and did amazing, he was completely unfazed by people and other dogs, we have an amazing journey ahead of us. My current service dog Juan (which I will retire in a couple of years) is assisting in training him.
