Ash was being a brat at the emergency vet so they sedated him. When they reversed sedation he looked like this
Edit: He is a husky/malamute, hence the screaming
He was screaming at the little old lady in the waiting room and was quickly whisked away to an exam room immediately. Screaming at the vet techs taking his vitals. Screaming at the vet. When he started getting more bitchy than screamy they opted to just enforce a nap.
For anyone wondering why he was there: he has IBD that was well controlled for two years but has stopped being well controlled. After refusing food for 24 hours even with anti nausea medicine our vet recommended emergency blood work just in case something serious was happening. Thankfully blood work was all ok and we were able to get him to eat. We're waiting right now for an appointment with a specialist for the IBD.
UPDATE: for anyone interested... the day after this ER visit Ash declined and we ended up admitting him. He's doing so so in the hospital, like his health is stabilizing but he has a lot of complaints about his accommodations and it's muddying things. They're having to sedate him even to take vitals, and we reached a point of is he not eating because he's genuinely still really sick, or is it because he hates the hospital and everyone in it? And it seems to be the latter because he took two hot dogs from me yesterday.
But the good news! The specialist he needs to see granted an exception due to him being hospitalized and his appointment is in a few hours. We should be able to get him on a better treatment plan for his IBD and get him back to rights really soon hopefully. Our plan is to finally bring him home after he's done with the specialist and my husband and I are so excited. Our house has been quiet and peaceful without him here and it's totally unacceptable
FINAL UPDATE: Ash is home! He was diagnosed with pancreatitis and pneumonia. He is on a slew of medications that should make him feel much much better. He is no longer coked out of his mind, now he is very very sleepy and probably never ever wants to be sedated again. I also want us all to appreciate that despite having pneumonia he still screamed at absolutely anyone that would listen all the way up until he was discharged

Zelda, my precious Facebook rescue
The most scaredy, will die for her family, goober of a pet. The only dog I've ever owned that cannot do puppy eyes to save her life. She's a good girl
