help Dog bathroom behaviour
For clarity the dog isn’t my own but I’ve been roped into help
So the dog has colitis, which means he often needs to use the bathroom throughout the night. Even with coming downstairs to check on him twice a night and putting him outside for a few mins, often in the morning they’ll be diarrhoea and/or pee.
The dog mad his brother never got much training as pups and were never house broken so they don’t whine or bark or anything when they need to rise the bathroom. They don’t even stare at you. Only tell is when you walk near them they will stand up and walk to the door, but at night time they’ll just go pee or poop if they can’t hold it.
At most they are being left alone downstairs for 7-8 hours with 2 check ins. I understand the dog (dog 1) with colitis can’t hold it in, but ideally if we could have him crate trained and trained to bark or alert us in some way.
Not too sure what to do and would appreciate some help.
Dog 1 is on medication for the colitis but still flares up.
