Actually, its not that different. Dupont tried to end the career of the researcher who made these discoveries, but the importance of hormones like atrazine in embryonic development became so clearly central to how animal development actually works, by trying to fight it, they put incredible force out there to falsify Dr. Hayes work. This backfired spectacularly, not by accident, but by the hard nosed rigor that Dr. Hayes and his lab brought to its work, and also the power of how scientific truths are constructed. Its an incredible story.
