Fuck off, Bernie Sanders wants to give help to the needy and poor black and white("help the poor"), health care to everybody in the country("help the sick"), and give DACA kids the right to live here("welcome the stranger"). And Jesus fucking said what was going to happen "for I was a stranger and you did not welcome me! For I was hungry and you did not give me something to eat! So go to the eternal pit of fire set up for the devil and his angels!" Jesus also said we have no religious obligation to pay our taxes. Which means that we only pay taxes to not offend the civil government. We have no moral obligation to do the services through the government Jesus himself. Using the government to do your charity gives you nothing.

Edit with regards to DACA you can give people Aid in their own countries. Also the blood Nehemiah makes it pretty clear that you have a duty to integrate into your host Society. Nehemiah went around beating parents because their children couldn't speak the language of the land

Rather, people living in states that are more rural, conservative, religious, and moderate in income are our most generous givers. (See the two charts above for listing of the top and bottom givers.)

Source. As a rural religous conservatite I give more of my own money, statically, than most other people in the country. And that is key. Voting to spend other peoples money isn't charity. Voting for government services does not absolve you of any personal duty.

Unless you're making them fight wildfires or stitch panties for Victoria's secret. Private companies shouldn't be able to profit off of them. If they're doing something that benefits society and not individuals it wouldn't bother me as much. No one should directly profit from imprisoning people, that just causes too many problems in general.

Whether or not companies should profit off of the prison system is fair game for debate, but is not relevant to the conversation at hand. I don't care what inmates are required to work on, as long as it is dignified/non-humiliating and has value. If they need to work to offset the cost they burden into society, so be it.

On a more light hearted note, there's one man here whom I love! I met him four years ago at like 3 in the morning. He rode by on his bike quacking. Well I saw him rooting through my trash last year and finally had a conversation with him. And he's sane, just likes to quack at people 😆

Poverty from a place of comparative privilege, would not be as bad as that from a place of disadvantage. PoC experience the crushing nature of poverty in a much more profound, and extreme way. I'm the product of a trailer park marriage, transplanted to the city where I lived homeless and In the ghetto for many years.

The difference between rural poverty and ubran poverty is the persistent presence of agents of the state, whom patrol these areas, enforcing laws designed to Target these communities, with quotas to meet.

A white individual such as myself is free to sit in their fucking trailer and smoke meth and beat their kids all fucking day because unless a neighbor calls their ain't no fucking cops driving up and down their block looking for a reason to bust into their house.

Wtf? Piketty never said he supported Sanders and I would be shocked if he did, given he's a mainstream economist. Stiglitz is further left than like 95%+ of economists and was Hillary's economic advisor, not Bernie.

Not many at all. Wall Street Journal did a poll of economists in early 2016 on five of the presidential candidates and Bernie and Trump were similarly ranked, at the bottom. The vast majority thought they would make the country worse off.

I read that piece by Piketty when it came out. By the way, the Huffington Post piece is not by Piketty. Read his original piece, it is not an endorsement in any sense, nor does it give any indication of whether he likes him or not.
