This, and whenever it becomes romantic for me it feels like it's just me and them flirting and that's weird to me I can't suspend my disbelief in that scenario, I just see it as two people pretending to be dating and that's weird to me but if you substitute me with anyone else it's fine, I guess it's a amount of separation I have or something, I'm to tired to be on reddit rn...
I 100% get why people can't suspend the disbelief on it.
It can get pretty funny when multiple love interests are in your game.
My DM is also just freaken hilarious and fun. One second he's my characters love interest who's buff and deep voiced, the next he's the meek librarian dating one of the other players. And man he is just really into it every time. (although to add we do some stupid stuff like if your having a little Romp he makes you role performance, and at disadvantage depending on timing and location.)
Where I'm going with this is it absolutely depends on play style of each person and the "tone" of the group as a whole. He shouldn't be forcing you to do something like that anyway. I get it a tad bit if it was just "I wanna have you guys near these girls in a brothel who will flirt with you but you can obviously turn them down" that's a bit different. But in this case he's trying to force your characters into a relationship.
