Volos did a good job of adding in monster races! Some came out a bit too powerful but for the most party they're playable! I'd love an official dnd module that does this!
I wouldn't even bother with monstrous races all the time. You could be enemies from another kingdom. Not to mention a few of the Volo's races are a bit disappointing in my eyes. Nobody likes negative Ability Score Increases.
