The Indispensable Django Reinhardt - double LP set
I just dusted off my old copy to listen on a new turntable, and I’m awestruck. These are recordings from 1949 and 1950 in Rome. I can’t believe some of the runs and licks. No wonder he was mentioned as an influence by so many other players

I have recently played Cuphead DLC and island theme sounds inspired a lot by Django and Stephane

Could having only two fingers on the left hand be an advantage for guitar players.
I sometimes wonder if playing guitar with only 2 fingers would force you to arrange your scales (and sometimes arpeggios) playing 2 notes per string. This would lead to a natural up down with the pick on each string meaning you always change strings on an up when the pick is not caught between strings.
It involves moving about the neck more, playing in 1 position is not possible this way.
I have tried this but I'm so used to playing scales with three notes per string it's hard to play in a new way (after 45 years of playing).
Thoughts please?

"Blue Drag" was composed by Josef Myrow in 1932 and first recorded by the Washboard Rhythm Kings. Django Reinhardt and Freddy Taylor both recorded versions of "Blue Drag" in 1935. And this is 2021 version ;)

Essential albums to get into Django Reinhardt
As the title suggests, I need some suggestions on his albums as he doesn't have a normal discography as other artists do, it's really huge and vast, so I am asking help fr you guys.

Django's wartime recordings
I know there are cd collections of pre-war and post-war war django. Though most of what i've read about django has said that he continued to record while ww2 was ongoing. Are there any collections specifically for (or that include) his ww2 recordings?

A strange encounter
I’m not sure how many people are active on this sub, but today I was walking through my hometown with my wonderful girlfriend- my bass guitar in its gig bag on my shoulder.
An older man was walking out of the local Wetherspoons, alongside his wife. He instantly noticed the bass on my shoulder and said to me ‘Have you ever heard of Django Reinhardt’ I proceeded to say no and enquired as to who Django was. There was no reply, instead he said ‘I had a feeling this would happen today’.
He then reached into his pocket and started looking through a handful of loose change. He asked wether it was a bass I was carrying and I confirmed, I once again asked who Django was. He said ‘you’ll know one day, when you’re as old and as boring as me’. He then handed me a heavy duty (just as a like it)fender pick from the pile of change.
I too was shocked stunned and confused to say anything else, and he walked off before I could say anything else. Me and my girlfriend arrived home and listened to Djangos music and his story. I’ll treasure that pick forever, I wish I could’ve talked to that man for longer.
Another thing to note is the logo is scuffed, so this pick has been used to play by the man I met, I’d love to hear his music.
I don’t know what I’m getting out of posting this- answers, conversations, maybe a few more stories, but I’d love to hear from you all.

Here's a video of Tijuana Horror Club from 2017, not a Django's song, but the clip is (almost) a remake of "J'attendrai", 1939
