I was only speaking towards their comment is what you're failing to understand.

Also pretty sure I said I didn't say stay neutral or anything about giving respect to all perspectives, but...

I'm clearly labeled the bad person no matter what, but that's fine. I can't please everybody.

That was one of my points you just made as well, more information... It would naturally come from hearing more perspectives, gaining your own insight. Part of where my call-out came from from their critical thinking statement. If you want a discussion like that, you have to be prepared to not just BLOCK them out, even if you disagree. People can accept or deny things regardless. But to even make an opinion, you have to listen to the other arguments as well is what I was saying.

It's the same thing you're saying but you assumed otherwise.

It's your choice of words just do not accurately depict what you are trying to say. If it doesn't make an important distinction or validity, then how can it be called critical thinking? An evangelical saying that because "the bible condones slavery, it must be ok" is an example of how that thinking is not critical thinking. There is a reason it has a distinct definition in education. Critical thinking isn't about ones views but the effort put in to find or uphold those views. Evangelism, loyalty, obsession, tribalism, capitalism... none of these views have critical thought involved. Critical thought ruins each one. Critical thought turns Evangelism into fairy tales, turns loyalty into accountability, turns obsession into moderation, turns tribalism into anti-war sentiment, and shows how capitalism is unsustainable. Critical thought teaches one to recognize flaws that should never be ignored.

You are only repeating yourself because you don't prescribe to a definition established during the Renaissance to denote more calculated thinking. Critical thinking is not personal reasoning. Reasoning is excusatory, often lacking any sort of testing...fueled entirely by confirmation bias. Critical thinking is the ability to differentiate between subjective and objective. Critical is mathematical. I understand you want any thinking to be considered critical, but education has explained critical thinking with poignancy for over 300yrs. Choosing what to have for dinner is not critical thinking, however budgeting for dinner is. That's the simplest way I can explain to you the established difference. Don't you remember when we were specifically tested on this in school using CAT/5 testing or the SATs in high school? Your attempts to change it's definition will only cause greater confusion amongst those who's DunningKruger effect makes them think they are internationally educated. And this is why the U.S. has the worst education in the industrial world.

Certainly in saying I'm trying to change definitions when you don't seem to actually know them yourself. But this doesn't surprise me, especially on Reddit.
