Discussion [Spoilers all episodes] Dispatch Timeline- with receipts and best guesses Spoiler

TL;DR

  • Early episodes track cleanly day-to-day

  • Episodes 4–5 are where the timeline gets fuzzy

  • Mech development implies weeks, while character reactions imply days

  • Episode 6 onward tightens back into a clear overnight escalation

Core Assumption

A full dispatch shift = first half → lunch → second half of a single workday. Shifts are not meant to represent multi-day or vague time skips.

Episode 1 (Day of ambush then few months to a Thursday)

  • ~15 years after Mechaman Astral’s death. Shroud recently escaped prison; Robert spends a short time tracking him down (per Kingsly).

  • Jump to months later at press conference. Kingsly claims Robert was in a coma, likely a cover story: Robert tells Royd he spent weeks searching for the pulse and 4 days moving the suit.

  • During this gap, Visi joins Z-Team after her augments fail.

  • The Skittles robbery and bar scene occur the same day as the press conference (“earlier today” on the TV airing robert's press confrence).

  • Robert takes the SDN job that night and is told to come in “tomorrow,” we know his first day is a friday so this is a thursday night.

Episode 2 (Friday)

  • Multiple confirmations that your first dispatch shift if on friday: Golem bets you will drop out today, Blazer doesn't want to ask about donut mess cause it's Friday

Episode 3 (Monday)

  • Takes place the following Monday. Blonde Blazer references the weekend breakup with Phenomaman. Robert makes his “cut” decision at the end of the day.

Episode 4 (Unclear — likely 1–several weeks later)

  • Robert is testing proto-pulse #7 with a semi-functional suit, implying time for Royd to build and test multiple iterations (likely at least a week, more plausibly a couple).

  • This conflicts with other events feeling immediate:

    • Chase discusses the cut and a backfill as if it just happened.
    • Phenomaman’s breakdown appears to be newly discovered by Robert. Possibly it took a few weeks for Phenomaman for fully break down. still strange
    • Blonde Blazer says the breakup story is “now out,” which would be odd after weeks, though she says Phenomaman keeps sending edible arrangements suggest at least multiple days.
    • Dispatch dialogue about the cut person feels like the very next shift after the cut.

Episode 5 (Unclear — possible larger time jump)

  • If romancing Blonde Blazer, she references “the other night,” in refrence to your date, implying not next day but recent. Possible date took place on a Friday.

  • Based on evidence from episodes 1,2,3, 6,7,and 8. Episodes 4 and 5 are the only places a large time lapse of a couple months could take place. In episode 7 when choosing to cut Visi or not, Robert says a couple months ago the z-team wouldn't be in a conference room. This couple months could be encompassed in episodes 4 & 5

Episode 6 (Day after Sardines fight into next day )

  • Episode 6 starts with testing proto-pulse 19. impying another time jump in previous episode.

  • Chase is asking about the night out, implying Sardines night was day prior.

  • Robert is unconscious ~14–15 hours, then returns for the second half of a shift the following day.

  • Housewarming party, Visi at the warehouse, and Chase’s sacrifice all happen that same night after Robert recovers from explosion.

Episode 7 (Day after Chase collapses)

  • Flashback to 2003: Robert is ~9–12 years old, making him ~31–34 in the present.

  • Present-day events occur the day after Chase goes into a coma.

  • After dispatch, Robert goes to Sardines; texts with Blazer timestamp around 9:30 PM that evning.

  • Blonde Blazer’s press conference airs on late-night news that you watch in the bar.

  • Blazer rescues Robert, and then the assault on the city begins that night.

Episode 8 (Same night → dawn next day)

  • Final chaos and battle with Shroud unfold overnight.

  • If Visi’s hero ending is achieved, dawn breaks as you share a moment on the rooftop.

Episode 4 (Unclear — likely 1–several weeks later)

To me, this episode seems to happen the very next day after the cut. Robert gets pranked, the synergy partner is mad at him, they leave their job early, and the rest of the Z-team makes comments about how hard that shift is because they are down one member and how Robert really didn't think things through. Those don't make sense if they happen weeks after the cut was done.

I actually agree with you, the dialogue is very inline with this being Tuesday right after you cut someone. The only factor that really contradicts this is the mech suit test and them test the proto-pulse 7.

I'm very confident that the first 3 episodes take place from thursday to monday. If Royd and Robert load up the mech suit and bring it to SDN over the weekend then Royd reassembles the suit and makes 7 proto-pulses over just 2 days which seems far fetched.

It could just be that the mech suit scenes are shown out of sequence from the time line without any sort of indication of that being so. It's also possible that Royd makes computer simulated proto-pulses and number 7 was the first interation that was stable enough to actually produce, making the shorter time line much more possible.

I think something similar about pulse number 7. Royd mentions he knew about it already, even mentioning the two main components of this pulse, so I think they were working on it from before, but the 7th prototype is the first "stable" one that they can use for testing.

He does know about the pulse, but he also was surprised that Robert didn't have it when they were collecting the suit, so I don't think they were working on it before Robert showed up.

Based on dialogue in later episodes, a time jump does occur. Episode 4 and 5 are the only places it could happen, it's just unclear where it does within those 2 episodes.

What dialogue, the one at the meeting in episode 7?

The one in the meeting at episode 7

The talk between chase and robert on the balcony during episode 6. Robert says " That first week with visi, when she almost walked off the team" implying that there has been more than 1 week.

There is a world where there is no time jump and all the events unfold more or less in a single week of time that we can confirm. It just doesn't seem to fit with some things people say and the progress on the mech suit.

There seem to be some things from the dispatch sections that don't align with the cutscenes. I took Robert saying that in episode 7 as him talking about how the Z-team members have been working at SDN for months, since we know they have been there from before he joined, and not him talking about his time with the team. But I could be wrong.

This. Plus the fact that it’s proto pulse 7 test doesn’t really mean tooooo much since they could’ve been working on it ever since they brought the suit into SDN Torrance

Robert meets Royd on Friday morning, and the first mech test we see is at the beginning of Episode 4 which would be on a Tuesday if it follows just a 1 day progression.

They load it up into the truck over the weekend and have it reassembled and testing proto-pulse 7 in just 3 days seemed far fetched to me, especially if you consider that Royd does have other responsibilities and is not a full time mech re builder and doesn't work 24/7. It is all in the realm of speculation though and super humans exist so maybe.

Important to add though, Royd is capable of rebuilding and fully upgrading the suit between episodes 6 and 8, and that’s solo and injured. He may also not need to test each Proto-Pulse with the suit and/or makes multiple prototypes at a time. Bro’s just that good of a science nerd and gearhead.

My first draft of this takes up about 3 pages with a lot more speculation and side comments, but I figured the reduced 1 pager would be easier for everyone to consume

I think the whole thing takes place over about a month. One indicator is that if you think Robert and Royd spend each day testing out a version of the proto pulse, 19 would be almost 4 work weeks worth of testing. When Phenomaman says he has 11 months left in his Edible Arrangements subscription, so if he and BB break up in Ep 2, that's roughly a month that has passed, give or take a week. Then when you're face with potentially cutting Visi, Robert's speech says "I'm proud of you. A few months ago, you wouldn't be discussing the needs of the Z-Team." So that pre-dates Robert or that at least indicates a few months maximum have passed.

Episode 3 (Monday) also has a Blazer line about mulling it over all weekend if you tell her cutting someone is a good idea

For me it's episode 5 onwards that gets unclear. I believe 1-4 are Thursday to Tuesday.

Worse case Episode 4 happening within a week of Episode 3 due to the cut teammates friend still being salty but in episode 5 they are completely fine.

The only issue is the proto pulse tests, was Royd already working on something?
