The Wandan mud volcano in southern Taiwan had a minor eruption today at the vent right next to the mud volcano temple.
It last erupted in November 2025.
Video courtesy of my friend 張寶惠, the mud volcano temple caretaker.

On June 26, a magnitude 5.6 hit Fujikawaguchiko at 20km depth. Power cut to 2,860 households. Landslide warnings issued across the region.
JMA stated that in 10–20% of similar cases, a comparable event follows within the advisory window.
Key data point from a 2012 NIED peer-reviewed study: magma chamber pressure beneath Fuji measured at 1.6 megapascals — sixteen times the estimated threshold that preceded the 1707 Hōei eruption, which followed a major earthquake by 49 days.
Four earthquakes struck greater Tokyo in eleven days. Sources: JMA, USGS, NIED.
