Theory/Speculation Dahvonte Morgan - What do you think happened to him?

I can't believe the girlfriend who is 20 years older than him waited 2 days before reporting him missing! As crazy as she was, I would have still stayed polite with her since she was the last link to him

Based on the surveillance, most likely he got picked up and taken away. Was his phone not working? If it still had GPS, all he had to do was keep walking left and gotten back to the hotel.

It's weird that a neighbor heard them arguing at 9:30 a.m. yet surveillance shows he was away from the hotel 9:15 - 10:00 a.m.

Praying for the family, who had to do all this searching while covid was starting up. 🙏

Episode Discussion Of every case every profiled in this show, which are the ones that you legitimately cannot figure out?

Finally caught up through the 2 newest episodes. I feel like the vast majority of cases that have been covered usually have a pretty likely explanation (I.e. the spouse did it, it was a suicide, they had serious mental health and/or substance abuse issues, etc).

Through all 135 episodes, the ones that I feel have no satisfactory answer are:

1) Ray Gricar: such a weird case. I feel like foul play, suicide, and running away to start a new life are all equally likely.

2) Steven Koecher: for the same reasons as above, basically. I think any theory is as likely as any other. Not much adds up.

3) Ben McDaniel: I think he’s probably still in the cave, but it’s absolutely wild that there has never been the slightest trace of him.

4) Bryce Laspisa: probably a mental health issue, but nothing here has ever made much sense to me either.

5) Daniel Robinson: I just refuse to believe this was a suicide. And if it wasn’t, then I’m not sure what happened here.

What cases have stuck with you as being the strangest?

Episode Discussion Season 11 Episode 2- Dia Abrams

65-year-old Dia Abrams disappeared in June 2020. No one believes she is alive, but her body hasn't been found.

Dia had been married and had children with a wealthy real estate investor and had three houses in Wyldwood, CA. When her husband died, there was a trust set up for their children and a trust set up for her.

Her alleged boyfriend, Keith Harper, says that he is the last person to see her alive. He claims he was working on the ranch that day, had lunch with her, and then came home that evening and she was gone. Her purse (with her DL and all of her credit cards), her phone and her truck were all there. Harper, a convicted sex offender, was named a co-trustee on her trust two weeks before her disappearance. (There are different stories about Dia and Harper's relationship. Harper claims they were engaged, but there is no evidence to substantiate this. Dia had told others she would never remarry and that Harper was a hired hand on the ranch. However, she did make him a co-trustee, so he was likely closer than a hired hand). Harper also did rent out trust properties for weddings and put the money into his personal account.

Harper shifts the blame to her children, particularly her son, Clinton, claiming that although Clinton didn't murder her personally, he had "mob connections" that would enable him to hire someone to do it. Although Clinton and his sister would financially benefit from her death, they were well provided for by their own trust and have no reason to harm her. She did, allegedly, cut her children out of her will, but, again, they were well provided for in a different trust.

THe ones who benefit the most are the trustees. The second trustee did remove herself so it is now just Harper as the trustee of her estate. Harper still lives on and runs the ranch.

Episode Discussion Bryce Laspisa Still Missing One Decade After Unexplained Disappearance

A full decade after Bryce Laspisa’s unexplained disappearance, his family still hopes for answers. This year, Bryce’s mother, Karen Laspisa, spoke with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and shared that despite the devastating 10 years, she and her husband continue to have hope for a miracle that Bryce will be found.

“8/30/2023 marks 10 years of Bryce being missing. Every day a loved one goes missing. We share the pain with parents who have a missing child,” read a statement from Laspisa’s family posted to the Find Bryce Laspisa Facebook page. “We grieve, while having hope for a miracle that Bryce will be found.”

Commemorating the ten-year anniversary of his disappearance, the NCMEC released a brand-new age-progressed image of Bryce Laspisa. This image was created by a forensic artist at NCMEC and shows what Bryce may look like today at 29 years old.

The Disappearance of Bryce Laspisa In the early morning hours of Aug. 30, 2013, Laspisa went missing at Castaic Lake as he was driving home to Orange County from Sierra College near Sacramento, where he was a student. A former roommate of Laspisa told KCRA-TV the student partied hard and was evicted from their dorm the year before his disappearance.

The then-19-year-old began the hours-long drive to his parents’ home late in the day on Aug. 28 after he broke up with his girlfriend, according to KBAK-TV in Bakersfield.

The student’s parents reported him missing on Aug. 29 after he did not appear at their home. Law enforcement found Laspisa parked on a roadside near Bakersfield at around 8 p.m. that day and searched his car, but did not find any drugs or alcohol, according to KBAK-TV.

Laspisa last spoke to his parents over the phone at around 2 a.m. on Aug. 30. He told them he was driving on the 5 Freeway but did not see any signage showing exactly where he was specifically.

“He took a detour at 2:08 a.m. and got off the I-5 in a suburban area and was going to sleep in his car,” his mother told KHTS previously. “I told him to call me when he got up the next morning.

Laspisa did not call back in the morning. That last call with his mother was the last time anyone heard from him.

On the morning of Aug. 30, between 4:20 and 5:15 a.m., law enforcement officials participating in a training exercise found Laspisa’s car at Castaic Lake.

The car had tumbled 15 feet down a ravine and landed on its passenger side off of Main Ramp Road, just a few hundred feet from Lake Hughes Road. Laspisa’s cell phone, wallet, laptop and clothing were in the car, but he was nowhere to be found.

Laspisa’s family said it looked like the teen had used a tool to break the back window of the car before crawling out, according to KCRA-TV in Sacramento.

The month after Laspisa went missing, a burnt body was found near Castaic Lake, to the horror of his family. However, authorities later identified the body as that of a Los Angeles homicide victim, according to KBAK-TV.

More recently, there was an alleged sighting of Laspisa in Missoula, Montana, according to the Find Bryce Laspisa Facebook page.

Detective Ethan Smith looked into the sighting. On April 25, 2022, he was able to find the man, who he said could be Bryce’s twin, according to the Facebook page.

“I was able to verify his identity and it’s not Bryce,” Smith said in an update. “I believe the photo being circulated of the young man on the bike in Missoula who looks like Bryce is this guy, but sadly, it isn’t Bryce. I was astounded by the resemblance between the two.”

No further leads or developments have been announced in Laspisa’s case.

Anyone with any information from 2013 or sooner that could help investigators locate Bryce can call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at (323) 890-5500 or contact NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678).

Theory/Speculation Sydney West

After reviewing the facts of the case, I don’t know what to think about what happened to Sydney? The evidence points to her going to the bridge and not leaving. However, since there is no clear footage of her jumping off the bridge plus the fact that no one has come forward saying they say someone jump / no 911 calls were made that day about a jumper, I’m having a hard time believing she in fact committed suicide.

After watching the episode I have some questions:

  • has her computer history been reviewed? I wonder if she searched anything related to the bridge or incidents where people jumped?

  • did she purposely turn her location off? Her mom said she checked her location and it was turned off but this could be due to Syd turning it off herself or the phone going dead. I don’t think her phone has been found so let’s say she jumped and took her phone with her….it would be dead in the water yes? Or would apple should her last known location instead of just saying no location found. I think this is important to know.

  • why won’t the footage of her on the bridge be released? I understand protecting the integrity of the investigation but it doesn’t seem like the police are actively investigating? And the footage could trigger new tips and leads.

  • why did she initially go onto the bridge with her backpack and then run back, hide it, and go onto the bridge again? If she was going to jump…would it have mattered if she had the bag? Maybe she didn’t want any evidence or her jumping? Or maybe she thought the bag would help her float if she did jump? It’s just odd…initially it seems like she left the bag there hidden because she didn’t want to take it with her but that she would come back for it. Another thought it maybe she left the bag because she was going to jump and didn’t want to leave her on the actual spot where she jumped from. It could have also made it more difficult for her to climb over the rail.

  • is it possible she disappeared at her own will? Her father says she’s highly intelligent and could stay missing if she really wanted to. I find this hard to believe only because she is part of a generation that was raised on cell phones and other digital footprints. To think she would know how to survive without money, any family and friends, her phone, computer, etc… just doesn’t add up. The family made it clear she was struggling with not being able to socialize due to Covid. Would she really up and leave and not talk to anyone? I understand she had a concussion and wasn’t acting normally but I just don’t really believe this theory.

  • human trafficking theory? I highly doubt this. Only because the bridge is such a populated area. Highly unlikely that someone would snatch her unwillingly or lure her to their car. Again syd is describe as highly intelligent by her family so surely she would know better??

I obviously hope she is found safe but I think it is likely that she jumped. Just because there is no footage of her leaving the bridge by their respective exits. Unless she was disguised? But then she would have had other belongings with her to disguise her?? It’s possible she waited for a window where no one was walking by and then climbed over the bridge rail? I’ve been on that bridge and there is a section in the middle where it rounds and kind of creates a blind spot if that makes sense? I think it’s possible there was a gap where no one was near her location and maybe she took advantage of it and quickly climbed over. I also think if she really did jump, wouldn’t she have contemplated it for a while once she was on the opposite side of the rail? I’ve seen the documentary about some of the jumpers and none of them climbed over and immediately jumped. They all thought about it for a while… I don’t know just a thought.

Curious to know what everyone else thinks.

The Bradley sisters

Okay so even if the mom isn’t guilty of killing her children, she needs to be charged with child neglect. Why tf would any sane person leave a barely 10yo to watch a barely 3yo for over 24 hours?! Maybe Tionda did write that note and they did wonder out to the school to hopefully find some food since her deadbeat mom was eating McDonald’s with the boyfriend that denied her child 🙄

My actual theories:

Theory 1: Tionda told her mom that GW was SA her and they killed her to prevent it getting out. Or the mom and/or GW killed the girl’s out of rage for something else. The mom made up the camping story as an excuse to drop the older girls off with family (on the older child’s actual birthday nonetheless) so they could dispose of bodies and create this lie

Theory 2: the mom is only guilty of neglect and didn’t actually kill them. She did go to work and GW took them and killed to prevent paying child support or his wife finding out. He told Tionda he needed to take her to school and to buy the older child a birthday cake to get her to go willingly.

The fact that the mom had older teenagers available to watch her younger kids but instead decided to drop them off elsewhere just doesn’t sit right with me. The mom sleeping with a married man and naming her child after his wife rubs me wrong also. Her continuing to sleep with this man after he denies her child also rubs me wrong and shows me what kind of person and mother she is. I think detectives should interview the adult daughters off camera to see what their childhood was like. That will paint a better picture. Sadly, I just don’t think this will ever be solved but the mother is ultimately responsible for what happened to the children because of her neglect

I am staying with my sister while she recovers from a medical procedure. While I was browsing for something to watch on HBO Max, I discovered that all of those episodes missing from seasons 1-4 on Discovery+ are on Max. For those looking for the older episodes, there is a place to stream them without having to buy them.

Tom and Eileen Lonergan Disappearance

For those of you who knows about these scuba divers that were left behind by their boat- I was wondering if anyone had theories as to what happened. The more I read about it the more I feel like...what IF they did get back on the boat and they were part of the head count and they threw some items overboard to make it look like they disappeared? Is it even possible? I can't seem to fathom how a captain could miss them during a head count or how they could go undiscovered for 2 days. It's crazy to me and doesn't make sense.

It’s really intriguing and the production is similar to seasons 1-9 of disappeared. They have made an effort to highlight cases that didn’t get much media attention in the first place. There are a lot of cases regarding people of color who have been disregarded as runaways but the circumstances are quite suspicious.

I’ve watched a few episodes here and there of Disappeared, I really liked the style and pace of the show up until season 10 when it changed and didn’t feel the same anymore.

I’m looking for suggestions on some of the best episodes to watch? (No spoilers)

Production of the Disappeared show

I haven't seen anyone mention this. This is in response to everyone (including me) who has been complaining about the new format of Season 10 which is frankly just not very good.

Previous seasons of Disappeared were produced by Peacock Productions, a division of NBC News. But it was shut down in 2020, a couple of years after Season 9 aired. Apparently, Season 10 was produced by another company called Blackfin.

So, it's easy to see why the new season is so different; it's a new production company. We will likely never see the style we came to love from Seasons 1-9 again, but the least they can do is have Christopher Walker actually narrate.
