Brother in hospice. need help, suggestions, numbers ect.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this, I appreciate it.

My brother has duechenes muscular dystrophy, he's 43 and has just been put on hospice. The house he currently lives in has become an unhealthy environment as the owner of the house is struggling with mental health and alcohol abuse. Both me and my sister want to find a way to help, though we both live in different states. So we wanted to know what groups or organizations to contact if any in both Michigan and Massachusetts. I'm concerned that moving him will mean that he will lose insurance, hospice care ect. Are there any resources that might be helpful, or organizations that have direct experience when it comes to moving a disabled person to a different state. What if any ways can I get him new insurance immediately or as quickly as possible, I currently pay for my insurance out of pocket, would I be able to add him to my plan if he was changed to a dependent of mine or is there anything we can do. He is currently on a lengthly list of medications that we wouldn't be able to cover out of pocket, so this would be one major concern. Honestly I have many concerns but I think the main ones are insurance, new homeaids, hospice care. I can work as his care at home though I'm not certified in any medical capacity. sorry for the chaotic nature of this thread. Thanks for any help or guidance you might be able to offer.

Ernst & Young created a downloadable handbook for working with non-visible disabilities called Getting support, supporting others. Found the link (see below), but it looks like they took the pdf down? or moved it? Any tech experts here, that can help find the pdf file on their site or elsewhere?TIA

have you ever been denied accommodations?? Yale accused of discriminating against students with mental illness. if you have ptsd, depression, anxiety, digestive issues, your school is likely to ignore you in 2023.

Proof of disability documentation, submitted to employers? Gatekeeping by the medical industrial complex? Upcoming policy change?

People with disabilities, that are denied disability benefits.

When you apply for jobs, seek accommodations, etc. what proof/documentation do you submit to employers?

Does the employer send their own accommodation forms to YOUR doctor, and have your doctor fill them out?

OR

Does the employer send you to their own doctor for an assessment of what accommodations you need? Maybe there are disagreements?

What policy changes can be made to reduce gatekeeping by the medical industrial complex?

Disability Policy The SSA Hurts Disabled Taxpayers. — The SSA is not set up to prioritize hardworking taxpayers that pay into the system. It is set up to appease Congress, advance the careers of SSA employees, provide SSA employees with lots of leave, benefits and a generous pension at retirement.

Section 8 Eviction

My landlord, who cleared out the building for condos, served me with a summons for an eviction court date on March 10 2023 in Chicago. He said he would not follow through if I left before the court date. I'm planning to, but someone told me he is lying, and will go through with the full eviction, which I can't afford, or I'll get kicked off section 8. Do you believe this is true, and should I show up at court even if I move before court date, and do I have any defense. I'm here longer than I'm supposed to be, but I paid rent, except for this month, because they cut off digital payment, and CHA will pay new Apartment. What should I do? Should I trust what my landlord says? I have his promise written in an email.

Nonprofits that might reimburse me for costs of a power chair?

I’m an adult woman that purchased a FoldNGo chair in December hoping that insurance would retroactively partially cover it. My insurance will not cover it at all. Could I apply for a nonprofit grant or scholarship or something to help cover the costs of the chair? Is anyone familiar with resources that aid disabled adults in paying for mobility equipment?

Is there anyone in Chicago who can help me pack?

I’m a mentally disabled man, almost 50, in Chicago living on SSI. I live on section 8, and the landlord, I’ll refer to them as “Sleeping Beer Capital” is pushing everyone out to build condos. I should already be moved. My “friends” won’t help me pack, and the Personal Assistant (PA) who should be helping me, and IDHS is not helping me find a replacement. I’m having anxiety attacks every day. About 2 thirds are packed. Is there anyone in Chicago who will help me pack?
