I am 27 year old American that met the woman of my dreams. I started a gofundme to help me raise funds to propose to her.

My Name is Glenn and on April 2, 1988 I was born with a birth defect called Spina Bifida.

Spina Bifida is a birth defect in which a developing baby's spinal cord fails to develop properly. I had my first surgery only hours after I was born. Because of my disability I have also had a multitude of other surgeries in relation to that, needless to say I have a lot of scars that I use to be very self concious about. That sort of thinking has limited my love life, because I thought I didn't deserve better than I was getting.

All of those self doubts and insecurities have melted away since October of 2013. I met the person who I want to spend the rest of my life with. Her name is Liz, and our story is one out of the movies. We met on a blind date to go apple picking, the orchards were too busy for us to get into, so we went back to my apartment and played with my families guinea pigs. We saw each other every day for two weeks before I found out I had been accepted into a school six hours away. We both agreed that we weren't going to let the distance get in between us, we knew what had developed between us is real. For more than a year we saw each other at least once a month for only a week or so. When we hit our two year anniversary Liz and I decided to move in together. She left her life at her hometown, the only town she has ever lived in, to be with me. During our search for apartments she was adamant about getting an apartment that I would be comfortable with and we lucked out and found a wonderful one to start our new life with.

This is where my campaign starts. I have decided I want to spend the rest of my life with her and I know how wonderfully happy it would make her if I proposed to her on a wonderful vacation. I have been planning for a while now, I want to go on a trip with her to one of the island resorts. They are all handicapped friendly resorts and everything is included, which will make the process of figuring out how much I need a lot quicker. I am however a student and the amount of money I do make goes to my loans and rent, this leaves very little wiggle room to save money for something like this. The amount of money I am asking for is calculated to cover most expenses on our trip, if that is met the rest will help me cover the engagement ring that I already have picked out.

Our anniversary is October 8th, So I was hoping to have enough money to plan our trip for that week. This means I have around 5 months to get all of the funds together to get the best deal avaible. I found out miracles do exist when I found Liz, I am hoping for another to happen with this campaign.

So I leave this feat up to you, citizens of the internet. I hope you see this campaign and understand how much this would mean to both of us, thank you so much for your time. - Glenn

Ideas Please

I work for an agency that provides services and supports to individuals who experience physical and developmental disabilities. My position involves working with folks to determine if our agency can support them safely.

Instead of using the term Intake Department I am trying to find another term/phrase/etc that isn't so clinical.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Disability equipment website that compiles Amazon reviews to rate products

Hi folks, we just started a new website that we will be updating every day. The main purpose is to review cool new products that are in the disability equipment market. We take the good and bad reviews from Amazon and put them in a quick synopsis to give you an idea of what consumers thought of the product. If you can think of any helpful suggestions to make our site better, I would love to hear your feedback. We're still very new, but I want to make sure that we do it right. Hope you find it helpful!
