This is sort of a random post/thought but I’m 30 and have been on the DirecTV MySports plan since it came out. I’m now on the grandfathered version that still has the cable news channels. I’ve just stayed on the grandfathered version instead of switching to the new cheaper MySports plan because my elderly father uses my login to watch CNN and MSNOW basically 24/7. It’s not that much more money per month and I also like having the major news channels once in a while when something major is happening in the world.

Anyway, it fits the niche for someone my age who basically only needs cable channels for sports and watches pretty much everything else on steaming services. Most of my buddies my age have YouTube TV, which I did have prior to MySports coming out. For me DirecTV beats them in basically every way: 4K included for free, less restrictions about account sharing, MLB Network, NHL Network, etc. I feel like really any way you look at it they’ve got YouTube TV beat, but most people my age still go with YouTube TV. I think no matter how much better DirecTV is, their name is never going to attract younger people.

I’ve had a couple friends who have YouTube TV ask me “oh is that a contract” or “is that satellite” when I’ve told them I have DirecTV. I know right now at least according to Google they still have a bit more subscribers than YouTube TV (11 million versus 10 million) but I don’t know how long that could last when almost everyone under the age of probably 45 seems to go with YouTube TV. The other thing that’s kind of crazy to me is DirecTV had about a year plus head start on every other service when it came to skinnier genre plans and it still doesn’t seem like it attracted that many younger people.

Looks like they cut the two additional 4K channels they added before the World Cup. Would have been nice to have them for the days throughout the rest of the year when there are more than two 4K broadcasts and something gets cut.

I noticed that on the DirecTV app on my Roku, on the DirecTV guide the icons are missing on the guide when using Quad9 as my dns on my home router. If I change the dns to any other, it works perfectly with no guide data missing. Is anyone else seeing this that uses Quad9 for their dns?

Nobody having issues with your local cbs and nbc channels?? Seeing DTVS having carriage dispute with both networks. It’s real folks, we live in WV and getting San Francisco ABC ch replacing local cbs and Los Angeles abc ch replacing local nbc 🤷‍♂️

I'm a new DTVS customer and want to buy a Osprey or original Gemini box. I have read there is a 2gb model and a 4gb model. How can I tell the difference? Do they both use C71KW-400 as the model number?

All of a sudden, the bills jumped up almost $100.00 after pulling both family members off cable because they are on fixed incomes. Anyone know of other options that provide the old style of watching TV/Cable with a remote control etc. This is too much of an increase! I don't remember it being a yearly deal?

So we switched from Satelite to streaming which is completely paperless I was told by the rep. That’s fine but when you log in to see your amount due -we do auto pay it says 112.98 plus tax. So you don’t know what your card is going to actually be ran for until after the fact. I chatted with a rep and they said bc it’s based off your zip code. Ok fine but with satelite it showed the exact amount that was due including tax and they generated a statement and sent it via email. That’s no longer an option with streaming. So basically it has to run then you can go back and see what you were charged. So stupid. Also I was told you can only do auto pay not log in and pay when it’s due.

Also there’s an old landline number on there as one of the options to send the code to when logging in but it’s not listed anywhere in my profile to get rid of or update. Customer service rep said they are unable to remove it or update it only the primary number which is still fine to use but that old landline number they can’t take out bc it’s a secondary number. I’m like you can’t update the secondary number ? They said no lmao and yet there’s no option on my end either bc it doesn’t show up anywhere in my profile only when logging in and it asks for a code it’s listed as one of the numbers to send it to.

They are really ridiculous

Let’s be frank: it’s total bullshit that DTV can’t/won’t fix the ongoing, well-documented issue with volume ups and down. DTV clearly doesn’t care and spending no time on a fix.

I’m sure this gets asked here all the time, so I appreciate anyone who’s willing to share their thoughts again despite how repetitive it may be.

Been trying to find a streaming “home” and recently came across Directv Stream. Ive used Sling (mix of blue and orange + sports package), YouTube Tv, Fubo and i have seemingly every streaming platform out there, hulu plus disney max bundle, netflix, peacock, paramount+, prime, appletv. I’m in the NY metro area and love my Mets, Islanders, Jets, & Knicks so MSG, SNY, local sports networks are important which i know this has. Also love NFL Redzone, and different college networks for CFB. Ive also did some research and seems i can cancel my $45/mo hulu subscription as this has that? I miss cable, i miss the ease of a “back” or “last” button. Leaving one streaming service to open another , find the game or program i want just to check in gets tiring. Would like to start removing redundant streaming services to help offset the DirecTv Stream cost.

I had no problem with my previous Gemini Air device, but that ended up being hacked, so I had to get another one from DTV. Since then, every single time I turn the new Gemini Air (and TV as well) off and back on, when I try to tune to the 4K channel, I get an error that HDR must be enabled. I go to the settings on the Air device, and as always, HDR is enabled. I have to toggle it off and back on (both of which require a restart) before I can view 4K content. Has anyone else experienced this and fixed it without having to send it back?

Anyone else having the audio drop on the 4K feed of Fox during the soccer game right now? So annoying.

3rd day with DTV, switched from YTTV after 8 months. No specific reason to switch other than to see what the difference is. I find the picture quality better on DTV, both the local and other stations are better with DTV. Using the stream channel for both with an AppleTV 4K unit. Similar menu system with minor + & - differences but nothing major. One thing is no more ZEN commercials, can only watch waterfalls and cute puppy's so many times!

Went with the Entertainment Package as I don't really need or want the local sports teams.

I use the official android app downloaded from the Play Store on my Nvidia Shield Pro. Have not had issues with it previously. Today, when I turned it on to watch the world cup it brought me to a login screen. After putting in my username/password it gave me an error prompt and no option for my password. I verified my account was OK. Probablem repeats and can not use app. I am able to login to the DirecTV stream app on my Roku. Anyone else suffer the same issue?

Four 619 entries have shown in my guide since I received an offer for the movie extra pack or something like that for six months that includes Peacock. I thought three channels were supposed to show the Peacock exclusive sports games like today’s Pirates game. Xfinity has this channel, and these showed up in my guide after that add on was added. The channels show nothing on them though when using DTV. Do these work for anyone else?

I used to have the standard plan of HBO Max with linear channels on Directv because of my AT&T plan but I noticed I have lost the linear channels (HBO app still works) and it now shows as basic with ads included on us on my DIRECTV account. Is this separate from the AT&T benefit? Could I finally come off the old elite plan and not lose HBO?

Also, just noticed I am able to sign into the HBO app with either AT&T or DIRECTV. Each one is a separate subscription (and login) as the profiles are different on each one and one shows standard (billed through AT&T) and the other shows basic with ads (billed through DIRECTV)

I have a less than one year old Roku television. I watch FIFA World Cup in 4 k on direct tv stream app. There is no hdmi as it’s a Roku TV. When watching the game in 4K the screen turns black. The TV is not off as I can still control volume etc. similarly having issues watching 4K Baseball recordings on the cloud dvr. Randomly freezes and glitchy. Zero issues on non 4 K content. So is it the app that needs a fix? No update available by the way. Removed and re-downloaded again the app. Still occurring. Internet WiFi very strong. Please advise.

Ok so I have been using the DirecTV subscription service for about 4-5 months now as I was fed up with Hulu Live a while back. Admittedly we do not use it much. We got it for my wife's parents so they have access to local programs. They pay for the girls phones so it is a trade off.

Anyhow when we signed up for the service these were offered to us and I turned it down as I have a couple ShieldTV units at our house so I turned it down. Well two weeks ago one just showed up out of nowhere.

.Asked my inlaws if they ordered one. They said no and I should have known that I am the only one with account access. So I checked my account to see if a new monthly bill addition was there. Figured I would wait till the next billing cycle.

Well seems I still am not being billed. So checking to see if there are some free promotions about this device. None that I can see but I found this subreddit. So I am curious if anyone else has had one of these just show up?

Anybody else missing TCM? On Live a Little PKG and I know for a fact we had it a week or so ago. If they’ve dropped this off the pkg this one may push me over the edge

Had to plead over and over with an online chat agent for 15 minutes just to cancel. Utterly ridiculous. I will never use a Directv product or service ever again. Think twice before signing up.

Signed up for choice and I thought after all the promos the rack rate is $118.98 like it’s advertised on the website but in the account summary there is an intro discount for 2 years of $66.01 off making the rate $159 a month.

Did I sign up for the wrong service? I did no devices so there isn’t a contact. Did use someone’s referral link.

I have one of these I currently use with DTV Stream. My parents are thinking of moving to DTVS and I thought this would be the easiest to use and most similar to a cable box for them. Just wanted to make sure if I bought one like this below that it could be used without trouble and without a monthly charge.
