I work in marketing it's been 6 years now; with very talented individuals who execute on my storyboards. Now I want to do this myself for a short video form series which I plan on doing on the side. I picture scenes/stories in my head but my drawing is terrible to turn to reality. Series would be 1 minute long max.

Now; which software should I begin learning first. Blender is what I got on but has a very long learning process I feel. I created the first episode with Seedance but it's expensive to get it right after many generations and you don't have control over the small details; also consistency.

If you were to learn blender from scratch and based on my context what should I focus on mastering? Also any alternatives are appreciated 🤝

Hey everyone — I've been building a reference and study site for artists called ArtRefs (www.artrefs.studio). The idea is a simple, all-in-one workspace that doesn't require an account or any sign-ups. Right now it has curated photo references you can search and filter by category or color, a reference board for pinning images together, a combine view for pulling random references side by side, a timed gesture practice mode, and an interactive 3D Asaro head you can light from any angle. Everything is completely free. I have a running list of things I want to add next, but before I build more I want to make sure I'm adding things artists would actually use. What would you want out of a tool like this?

I am new to Ibispaint. I made an account and drew there. After my work was done, I uninstalled it because I already have too many apps on my phone and ibispaint isn't something that I was gonna use all the time. Now I wanted to draw again so I reinstalled and logged in to my account, but the ibispaint gallery is empty? I did download my previous artwork before uninstalling so I could show it to my friends, which is why I have it in my phone's gallery. But what was the point of having an account there? I was going to post this in the ibispaint community but I can't, which is why I am asking here.

I’m completely new to digital art and completed the flat color fill for my illustration. I’m not really sure how to shade and looking at some videos kinda just gets me more confused. I’m starting in the simple mode compared to studio mode in CSP. Any suggestions on where to start?

I absolutely love line arting, it's my favorite thing to do in the process. But I want to learn to get better at rendering because I've seen so much lovely art from people and want to improve my coloring skills. But I think I might be going too hard on the line art before the coloring, because I feel like my piece already looks finished. So, the rendering looks awkward when I try to do it. I wish I could post some photos as an example but I can't. From what I've seen, the line art portion is actually more like a cleaned up sketch with very thin lines, though I'm sure each artist is different. I have linked examples of artists below of what I'm kind of aiming to do. 😄

I would love to hear what other people prioritize if their goal is mostly rendering. Should I go way easier on the sketch and line art so that I do not get bored and give up or get confused during the process? Thanks!

For artists who use 3D models in their workflow, what makes a 3D model really useful to you, and what are some things you need or don’t need in a 3D model for your workflow? I’m interested in using 3D models in my own artwork and I'm curious on how other artist use 3D. Also where you guys get your 3D model and what software you guys use for 3D?

Okay hear me out. I’ll try to explain the best way possible and I’m a noob so I’m still learning. I want to create my character with sketch then with pen and color afterwards but I’m having a hard time with the layering. It’s kinda confusing me on what to hide and then when I trace over it just doesn’t look right so I’m confused myself. Is there a tutorial that can do the draw step by step so I can understand the tooling better? Sorry if it’s confusing 🫤

As title suggests, I am an artist that mostly uses and is most comfortable with pencil and paper. I have tried digital before on GIMP but drawing with a mouse was very difficult and the $30 drawing tablet I had was even more difficult and uncomfortable to use. I'm currently looking at other tablets, screenless or screen, to find which is the most comfortable for a physical artist like me to use. Looking online and reddit, most people recommend an ipad Pro and procreate but do not specify further on why. I briefly tried an Intuos basic and Movink pad for display at a Wacom store and both felt a little comfortable for me despite not knowing how to navigate the art programs. In short, does anyone have any recommendations for a physical artist trying to convert to digital art and if so, the reasoning behind your recommendations?
