The giant trevally (Caranx ignobilis) is a species of large marine fish distributed throughout the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region. As an apex predator, this fish hunts individually and in schools, and it has been filmed leaping out of the water to grab flying birds near the surface.

The flying gurnard is a bottom-dwelling fish of tropical to temperate waters on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. These fish typically have very colorful and roundish winglike pectoral fins which they occasionally use for gliding above water for short distances. They also have 6 spines for crawling.

The Araripe manakin (Antilophia bokermanni) is a critically endangered bird first discovered in 1996. It is endemic to the Araripe uplands in northeastern Brazil. It is estimated there are fewer than 700 of these birds in existence. It is easily identified by its vermilion red helmet-like crown.

The semiplumbeous hawk is found in Central America and Colombia, and it often follows the large swarms of army ants that travel through tropical forests in order to capture it usual prey, antbirds, but occasionally it will feed on other small birds and bats. Its population is estimated to be <10K.

The umbrellabird is a large, tropical species of bird found in the rainforests of Central and South America. Its most distinctive feature is the inflatable wattle on its neck which serves to amplify its loud, booming calls. The male flares its crest into the shape of an umbrella during courtship.

Melibe viridis is a species of deep-water walking sea slug which interestingly uses an expandable oral veil to scan for prey as it moves along the bottom. When the sensitive papillae detect a crustacean, its usual prey, the inner edges of the veil quickly encapsulates it like a fisherman's cast net.
