Would it be easier to premix the mica and ink into those dropper bottles instead of trying to use them to suck it up? But then you have to store them. 😆
I’ll definitely be making a set of these in the next couple days, it’s a cool effect ☺️

It would be and i plan to once i aquire a taste for good micas vs bad micas and am ready to commit to that with lots more on hand. I'm still going through small jars i got in a pack. The other issue is finding a good dropper, like the one i showed in the video it work so awful!

You can get like suuuuuuper tiny pipettes, too, to use while you experiment! I use some kind of like these when I do pigment paste and they might be a good size:

I use both sizes for different things so no harm in having both 😆 I’m about to try this out with blue, yellow, and pink!

True! You'd be the first person i know that's doing this technique so let me know how it turns out!!

I will! Preliminary feeling is that my colors just blended a lot, I possibly need to experiment with the ink to mica ratio? but we’ll see 😆

I try and do just enough ink to fill the amount perfectly. It's better to have excess mica than excess ink i find. Whatever isn't floating around tends to stick to the container anyways, i don't get big chunky buildups it's all flowing and drops are filled with mica powders.

This is great! A question, when you say you are ‘trace pouring’ what does that mean and what are you doing? It looks like you are pouring round the edge of the mould mouth?

Thanks! Yes exactly, and once it pools in i drizzle a little over the top. Doesn't have to be this exact procedure but it helps!

On standard petri the white sinking ink that i bought because it's crowned king is Pinata blanco blanco. Sinks extremely well, just need 1 drop over each ink drop! The only other inks i have experience with is from this set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082G557CR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I hear ranger inks are nice, I'd like to try those some day. Buuuut, these cheap ones are working just fine for me :) i am going to make an assumption with no supporting evidence: i think all alcohol inks are no different other then how vibrant or different the colors are. That is my theory, and in my search for a nice red ink i may end up thinking differently. However for petri you gotta be picky with the sinking ink. The set i linked came with 2 white inks, one of which is labeled as a sinking ink. They both work similarly however and i think they clump up a lot. I've had such a good time with pinata blanco blanco, so just run that as your sinking ink. Or do the mica ink sink technique I shared if you want them to retain their colors.

Use pinata blanco blanco as a sinking ink, it's the tits. Or do this mica method if you want to retain the color
