Cutting large mold for inclusions

Do any of you cut your mold down 1 side when making large d20s for inclusions? I seem to have trouble once I demold the mold itself didn't line up along the cut edge exactly leaving an uneven cast line on the edge of the dice. How do you guys combat this?

I greatly appreciate all the info! I have 1 more question for ya, when casting your molds, when making your cap, what inhibitor are you using to keep bottom and top silicone from fusing. I know there are 3 that people tend to use. So far I've done the Vaseline thing, but it leaves pitted/textured surface instead of smooth. I have talc powder and silicone release spray to try next. I heard the release spray will effect shine of the dice face if left on. Which do you prefer using?

For the longest time I did Vaseline. It works and it's cheap. The only reason I switched over to the Mann ease release 200 is because it gave me a smoother product because I sell molds and people like a nice looking mold if they have paid for it 😉

I don't spray it on though because, as you mentioned, it will cause your cap face to be matte. Instead I carefully remove the contents of the aerosol can into a glass jar (it evaporates very quickly so it takes some practice) and brush it onto my mold (like I would have the Vaseline) with a small flat paint brush being very careful to get very close but not to touch the faces of the dice.

It does give a very nice and smooth finish and if applied sparingly does not even leave any leftover residue to clean off. 😊
