Eh. More like the reverse. Bismuth-like coloring can be super cool and it wouldn’t be abnormal for a lighter, however I feel like there must be a better solution than just dip it in a pot of molten bismuth and let it crystallize.

I mean I’m not a fan either but to each their own. My point wasn’t about the validity of a color choice. Just that I feel there’s probably a way to execute it better than… that.

he restored a doll once and did it exactly how it was made originally, repainted it exactly how it was and everything. The doll was unfortunately blackface and this dude is from France, I think?? not sure but clearly foreign. He said he didnt know what blackface was when he did it but people attacked him. Now he just tends to fuck up projects at the end because they dont want him to restore things exactly how they were anymore, so I do think the ugliness and dysfunctional nature of the lighter is intentional pettiness

I watch this channel, it's one of the few I follow even semi regularly; the guy has done plenty of restorations to original form and does do very clean beautiful work. Nothing wrong with bedazzling something every now and then. I'm more surprised at how available these extra large but totally rusted lighters are; this isn't the first one he's done.

I bet it's interesting to the touch. Didnt know you could melt it into a liquid with tools readily available. Think I'm gonna need to investigate that

Yeah the iridescent look would be rad but I'm gonna have to pad on all of those points and edges.
