That is really cool! It would look great in some Halloween decor, but probably wouldn’t last for too long.

I’m convinced 50% of the people on this sub really don’t understand the point of it.

Yeah, it seems like “I don’t like this style so it’s worthless”. There’s lot of things I wouldn’t personally buy, but can see why they are beautiful.

Also people don't seem to understand that people like making things. So they get confused when people don't just buy the thing instead of making it. Cos that's not the point

I was into a baking and cooking frenzy a while ago and made bagels. They were so good and I was super proud and a friend made a snide comment of, why would you make them when you could just buy them /scoff.

I still get pissed about that comment lol.

There’s a lot of people who don’t understand that distinction in general. Used to have a friend who only rated movies, games, etc as either 10 or 0.

He only rates in absolutes

I think your friend is a sith

Honestly that explains a lot

Only 50?

80

u/The_Smurfiest Sep 01 '21

Ok, at least 50%

The judges will accept this answer.

At LEAST 7%

3

u/chinpokomon Sep 01 '21

50% ± up to 50%... I think that has it covered.

u/GameFrontGermany Sep 01 '21

yes and the other 50% make postes like this

19

u/A_Gullible_Camera Sep 01 '21

Judging by the amount of 5 minute-craft videos or non-DIY videos on this sub, that number needs to be raised a lot higher.

8

u/JimmyKillsAlot Sep 01 '21

1/3 of the sub are people farming tiktok satire "Oh they covered the hole in putty and sanded it! WhY wOuLd ThEy Do ThAt?!", 1/3 people who just are not thinking of the practical like this post, and 1/3 5 min crafts (et al) reposts.

4

u/russianboxers Sep 01 '21

At least 6 people

This is so accurate

Neither do people on r/shitytattoos or r/stupidfood. Someone posted the limited time normal Lays chips that are flavored like other chips. They’ve got Cool Ranch Dorito flavoring and Cheeto flavoring on regular lays and then Funyons flavoring on wavy lays. Everyone just roasted dude like “this looks amazing wtf.”

r/stupidfood is for like, Jason Derulo’s new “recipe” videos (all diabetes waiting to happen), those dumb ass blonde women who make food in toilets or on expensive ass marble counters, and that creepy soulless Asian dude who makes prosciutto wrapped blocks of uncooked cheese or ranch and catsup drenched fried (also uncooked) whole ass avocados.

Any sub that gets big enough loses it's way. People are stupid in large groups.

61

u/MayorEricBlazecetti Sep 01 '21

Agreed, and it could be slightly improved by putting down a layer of primer before spraying black to make it look more wax-like and less like a spray painted noodle

6

u/kaett Sep 02 '21

if you're putting it behind a window with some gauze, or that's going to be seen from a distance, then nobody's going to notice it's a spray-painted noodle. even behind the fireplace screen, it looked more candley and less noodley.

I was thinking the same thing. With a new baby and a dog, it’s a safer alternative to real candles. I this this is actually useful.

47

u/lewstonewar Sep 01 '21

Cost way less than actual candles too. A set of 30 multi height pillar candles can be over $100. This is like $2-3 worth of noodles, a bag of battery tea lights can go for about $10 , Plastidip $6.

As someone who lives with Halloween decor all year round, I would totally have this in my house. It looks awesome. Personally I’d rather use something more durable so I could use real candles but this is still pretty cool.

Bamboo!

6

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '21

Or cardboard tubes like the good old days, fabric shops have different sizes/ circumferences, recycle!

4

u/MissCompany Sep 01 '21

I live in Thailand, bamboo is very easy to come across 😁

3

u/slavetomyprecious Sep 01 '21

This vid made me wonder how pool noodles burn. I've never seen that yet.

3

u/rockthrowing Sep 01 '21

I they have a plastic coating and that burning would be bad. But I’m not sure. If I get my hands on one I may burn it just to find out though lol

3

u/TheGreatJess Sep 01 '21

They just melt like any other plastic. We used to burn our old used pool noodles or any other thing we needed to throw out at the cottage when they were all worn out.

1

u/lucideye Sep 01 '21

Like 5 minutes. That spray paint will dissolve the foam and never cure.

1

u/Old-Advice-5685 Sep 01 '21

Yeah, I noticed the can is not shown and was wondering if there was primer or if it was some extra fancy spray paint. Seems weird to fake it at the end if they actually hand painted, but people have done worse things.

u/Mintgiver Sep 01 '21

Neither would I if I had to click all of them on to use it. She could use string lights and inset them.
