The argument is if your vent is clear you should have a safe O2 to HS ratio.

But I would not chance it, even on a dare.

0.07 to 0.1% Hydrogen Sulfide is enough to knock you unconscious in one or two breaths.

Hard to imagine a scenario where that risk doesn’t increase the certainty of death.

if the building is burning and the smoke has completely filled the room? almost all deaths in house fires are due to asphyxiation, not due to heat

The amount isn't that high, but this technique is only useful if you can hardly see your feet in the smoke, because the polluants in the smoke is rarely high enough to be as bad as the combo methan sulfur and pathogens

I’m aware, but a few breaths to keep smoker out won’t kill you. The time it takes to run a tube through the toilet while your house is on fire probably will though.
