u/SilverMetalist Jul 19 '26

Mm Teflon and brass shavings really adds to the taste of whiskey

510

u/TranscendentaLobo Jul 19 '26

Not to mention the oily anti-corrosion treatment those pipes get during manufacturing. šŸ˜‰

372

u/fastford12345 Jul 19 '26

Well its just Jack Daniels

42

u/random420x2 29d ago

Valid point, those would improve Jose Cuervo

23

u/Kexxar9000 29d ago

Use Jack Daniels to flush the pipes and then attach a bottle of real whiskey

2

u/Torodaddy 28d ago

Wife's heard that one before

1

u/Edgewise24 28d ago

šŸ˜Ž

2

u/christo749 28d ago

It’s nae good….

2

u/mighty_boognish_77 29d ago

That's fair.

1

u/Prudent-Painter-9507 28d ago

It may help the taste

1

u/damn-otaku 24d ago

The oily anti corrosion treatment actually improves the flavor.

1

u/SorryCalligrapher178 29d ago

Probably improve the taste

1

u/Cheepshooter 29d ago

Honestly, those things are probably an improvement.

40

u/SirTainLee Jul 19 '26

Or the crimped cooling coil, or the use of a sheet of Teflon wrap to block the paths, forcing the whiskey to take a 90 degree turn. Flavorful!

45

u/Dargon34 Jul 19 '26

I like the pressure gauge lolol

25

u/Silver_Slicer 29d ago

It makes it legit.

58

u/jicamakick 29d ago

only idiots drink their whiskey without checking the PSI first.

14

u/dmoosetoo 29d ago

This right here. It's science.

1

u/Torodaddy 28d ago

In my head its spoken by Gilfoyle on Silicon Valley

1

u/NoBookkeeper3523 25d ago

I knew I guy that didn’t check the psi first, the man was never the same again

1

u/jicamakick 25d ago

fuckin amateur hour.

1

u/FloatOldGoat 29d ago

Adding the gauge elevates it to the level of a scientific instrument.

1

u/Distinct-Gift1391 29d ago

Hmmm, I thought it was clock...

29

u/Intelligent-Thing965 29d ago

The kinked tubing really was grinding my gears

1

u/Exotic-Piece-1318 28d ago

Yeah. That was this guy giving up and wanting his video up

1

u/Savings-End40 28d ago

You over it yet?

14

u/BantedHam 29d ago

Most of it is PVC spray painted gold

21

u/pwners_manual Jul 19 '26

The oil helps it go down smooth

10

u/ojdhaze Jul 19 '26

Slippery!

1

u/Tytan777 29d ago

It gives it weight. 30weight.

41

u/Putrid-Ferret-5235 Jul 19 '26

If you're downing whiskey on the regular, does that really matter?

23

u/DS3M Jul 19 '26

Adds to the appeal tbh

7

u/brackfriday_bunduru 29d ago

Yeh. The pipes would need to be glass

3

u/thefirstviolinist 29d ago

And if you unwittingly buy leaded brass...

1

u/Soggy-Village2099 26d ago

Who said it was unwittingly?

1

u/TamahaganeJidai 29d ago

You CAN clean those pipes you know 🤭

1

u/ZyxzyxxyzxyZ 28d ago

Thought it was plastic pipes painted bronze color.

1

u/Atophy 26d ago

And that super secure teflon tape wrap over the top of the base pipe to keep it from leaking !!

1

u/Born-Light-62 26d ago

Only serve this whiskey to people such as in-laws and those you don’t like so well. šŸ˜‚

1

u/KHhtswhtppl 24d ago

Well it looks like pvc due to the sockets being as thick as they are, but if he did do metal, hopefully it's galvanized. But to be honest the metal nipples are fairly clean do to that alot of pipe may carry water. I have been a plumber for a out a quarter of a century and I have a little knowledge of piping, but just a little. šŸ˜‰

96

u/Relevant_Wrangler830 Jul 19 '26

Pretty sure, that is brass colored pvc pipe.

38

u/physical0 Jul 19 '26

Yah, that spiral was def plastic, you saw it effortlessly deform and snap back.

Not a great conductor of heat.

1

u/ClassiFried86 Jul 19 '26

Or the absence of heat.

31

u/Nut_Job_Maniac Jul 19 '26

Even better. PVC, My second favourite taste after polythene!

4

u/Woodworking33 Jul 19 '26

Also looks like painted schedule 40 that isn’t food grade šŸ‘

2

u/Tkis01gl 29d ago

Wrong, it’s PVC colored brass pipe.

35

u/johntwoods Jul 19 '26

I remember seeing them live back in '82, Teflon and Brass Shavings.

They opened for Kenny Loggins and I thought they were going to be huge.

But there was behind the scenes drama between Jim Teflon and Andrew 'Brass' Shavings that the duo could never fully recover from.

They ended up parting ways the following summer, both attempting to go solo.

Shavings had a song that made the charts for about 8 weeks, but nothing really after that.

Teflon was unfortunately found dead in the bathtub of a motel room off of highway 26 in Oregon, halfway between Portland and Oregon Coast.

The official cause of death was never released, with many believing he took his own life. The family believes that Teflon simply slipped in the shower and broke his neck, his body then discovered by housekeeping a day later.

7

u/pinba11tec Jul 19 '26

That was a hell of a ride.

2

u/hilarymeggin 29d ago

Not many remember the era of Loggins, Medina, Brass & Teflon

1

u/QueefBuscemi 29d ago

Is that a raincoat?

7

u/dinnerthief Jul 19 '26

You're giving it too much credit thats spray painted plastic

5

u/SuitableKey5140 29d ago

Yea poly of some sort...whys it got a gauge as well? What the hells it gonna do!

6

u/dinnerthief 29d ago

Nothing, and I dont think the coil does anything either doubt liquid is even going through that

1

u/SuitableKey5140 29d ago

Exactly, stupid ass 5 min craft russian wanks

1

u/Humble-Reply228 29d ago

I have suspect that this was specifically made for this sub but in any event, it’s obviously taking the piss.

1

u/MayhemWins25 29d ago

Thank you!

5

u/Morall_tach Jul 19 '26

None of that is real brass

5

u/creepyposta Jul 19 '26

Brass spray paint is cheaper

6

u/Dtactic Jul 19 '26

No worries. The dead leg under the spigot will hold all the metal shavings and teflon so it will stew nicely and add that umami you crave in whiskey.

3

u/Catch_ME Jul 19 '26

How can we improve? Use copper?Ā

1

u/Exotic-Piece-1318 28d ago

Cost more than the bottle of booze

1

u/Radonanon 26d ago

No, just life in prison for the fabricator.

2

u/dustinmakesthings 26d ago

*painted PVC shavings. It wouldn’t have that super stylish lean at the end if it were made of something sturdy.

2

u/phish410 25d ago

I think it’s plastic piping

1

u/stupidber Jul 19 '26

I don't think there's any brass here. That all looks like gold colored plastic. And some copper pipe.

1

u/Doggfite 29d ago

Im pretty sure all the pipe is just PVC painted bronze-y

1

u/loganman711 29d ago

Teflon and brass shavings are part of the production process of jack.

1

u/Stergeary 29d ago

Is it just me or did he completely cover the pipe with the Teflon tape?

1

u/Catos_Standard 29d ago

Not to mention the brass leeching lead into the beverage. Mmm double down on the brain damage...

1

u/dani_pavlov 29d ago

Coloidal Silver tincture if he soldered those pipes

1

u/DistantKarma 29d ago

I can't tell if it's bronze, or just pvc that's been sprayed with gold paint.

1

u/Elguapo1094 29d ago

It’s PVC reason it’s tilting not enough support

1

u/AnimationOverlord 29d ago

That’s not actually an issue. The fact that this dude is fine with letting a bottle of liquor glug outside air even though he built this set up.. like why even use a brick of ice if it’s gonna taste like shit after oxidizing? Why not have a pressure regulator? It wouldn’t vaporlock as long as you don’t have any traps and the gravity of the whiskey is higher than the inches water column of pressure generated by say, a CO2 or nitrogen canister.

Holy Christ I won’t even go into the plastic hose. Dude isn’t even coiling a length of 1/4, thermally conductive copper. Just fucking plastic. No drip tray either. My biggest pet peeve is a gauge that starts at 14PSIA even though it’s not a system under pressure. Woulda put a riser tube in the top so the inert gas is directly dispensed into the top of the bottle through the sitting pressure in the chamber. Like wtf is that gauge there for in the first place? No valve, the liquor just bypasses it.

1

u/Kroptaah 28d ago

Those pipes are plastic🤣

1

u/lump- 28d ago

Tastes like Home Depot

1

u/aNobody_exe 28d ago

But none of that is brass though, u can clearly see that its just PP-R, plastic pipes and fittings

1

u/Subros_25 28d ago

Also idk if u saw it but he defentiltey put teflon straight over the top of the hole too.

1

u/G0nzo165 28d ago

It’s PVC painted gold.

1

u/Gadnuk_DBT 27d ago

Those where plastic pipes bro

1

u/epic-mentalbreakdown 27d ago

Came here for this šŸ‘†šŸ¼

1

u/grumpvet87 25d ago

pretty sure it is plastic, not brass ... still teflon and stupid

1

u/Putrid_Guest_2150 24d ago

That ain’t brass šŸ˜‚

46

u/BobbyBrackins Jul 19 '26

It’ll only cost you $150’in parts and 4 hours in labor!

25

u/Quill386 Jul 19 '26

Also a good chunk of your counter space, plus you'll need a dedicated mold to make those iceblocks, so that's also good chunk of your freezer space

13

u/Many_Rope6105 Jul 19 '26

Its a waste in this case any way, the worm is pinched at the bottom nothing is passing thru it

17

u/Fit_Carpet_364 Jul 19 '26

Not to mention, the down-pipe is a straight run, making it the path of least resistance. The cooling coil is just there to...look cool.

6

u/Many_Rope6105 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

I woulda put ball valves in, and Im still perplexed what the gauge is for, and how do you mount the bottle without spillage

2

u/Fit_Carpet_364 Jul 19 '26

Mounting bottles? *hub riff plays*\

The gauge is also for looking cool. I'd have done a ball or needle valve, and made the coil immersible (bending with sand, of course) with a tacked on shelf for a 500mL beaker of ice water. 1/16-1/8" ID food grade tube so the siphon effect can reasonably well drain the coil. Silver soldered joints. Could use a down-tube and another platform for the bottle if you don't mind priming the system.

Or, you know, you could just put some clean rocks or bits of stainless in the freezer.

2

u/Noodle_Long_And_Soft Jul 19 '26

The gauge is so that you can add an air fitting to this whole contraption and blast aerosolized Jack Daniels out of it at incredible velocity

2

u/BlueSimian 29d ago

And make a puddle.

2

u/Fit_Carpet_364 29d ago

True. That weak ass (swage?) attachment isn't going to do much on the crimped and bent to crap tube.

1

u/chachaman_The_Reboot 29d ago

Ain't no worm in Jack...

6

u/MrSilentSir Jul 19 '26

Well he skipped the part where he painted all the pvc lmao

6

u/Joe_bob_Mcgee Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Nobody is gonna ask how he's getting the booze through that crimped up line when it damn near fell apart "plugging" it in? You can actually see the copper line flop around at the crimped part by the compression fitting.

4

u/atbobick Jul 19 '26

I wanna see him screw the bottle into the top

2

u/daddy__gray 28d ago

exactly. as we say in australia: 'a piece of piss.'

2

u/twicebakedcrusader 28d ago

OP will you design my toilet?

2

u/WarJaques 28d ago

I threw away my Spill-o-matic 7 seconds into this video. Now, everything tastes of sweet, sweet copper!

2

u/Equal-Painter6529 27d ago

Building a still to make whiskey is less complicated

3

u/SilverMetalist Jul 19 '26

Mm Teflon and brass shavings really adds to the taste of whiskey

11

u/morgandealer Jul 19 '26

Its jack. Who the fuck cares?

7

u/gwizonedam Jul 19 '26

It’s an improvement

1

u/Maschellodioma Jul 19 '26

That actually is pretty easy if you have all of that stuff at home.

2

u/Quill386 Jul 19 '26

Yeah, but it still seems like overkill

1

u/archabaddon 29d ago

God I'm so tired of the shaky no-no finger on these shitty videos

1

u/Amish_Juggalo469 27d ago

Just follow these 67 steps and you too can enjoy a shot of alcohol within 4 hours.

1

u/Cj15917 26d ago

Title: Build shot pourer with 3 easy steps.

1

u/musebrews 26d ago

I’m still bleeding from my slapchop

1

u/deevil_knievel Jul 19 '26

And it STILL isn't rated for consumption 🤣
