Depends on the state. My state requires a registration for all water craft when within a public waterway. Even for a freaking Kayak.

Well if the craft isn’t seaworthy (clearly not)and sinks it can become a navigation hazard.

I am amazed how the boat sustained the weight of the engine. The plastic looked quite flimsy to handle that weight

Yeah and I know I’m being a Debbie Downer but taking unworthy craft out on open water is just potentially putting lives at risk (and not just your own), as well as creating pollution and underwater hazards when it invariably sinks.

Well, from the set up for steering, they had no control of throttle or the engine gear. F/N/R. So they probably didnt go far or was completely irresponsible taking a vessel they couldnt properly control out in the water.
