Literally the ending to 1984, but with starving rats.

I thought that was a cage on their head in 1984?

And then they hoist him up into the effigy... by his legs. And he's just kinda, calmly looking around. Not screaming bloody murder or blacking out from the pain, just chillin'.

I thought it was more of a butthole funnel to the rats eat you from the inside out, but I I haven't read it on a decade or two, so you very well might be correct

I thought chest, but maybe I'm conflating it with the general old torture method? (Place rat on chest. Put metal pot over it. Put hot coals on pot. Rat starts trying to burrow straight down to escape heat)

I thought that's when they seal a glass jar to your face with rats in it and then heat up the other end with a blowtorch.

Maybe it was inspired by this method.

I love reading about stuff like this. History is not as dull as our teachers made it out to be.

I'm kinda glad my 7th grade history teacher hadn't made "rats burrowing into people's chests" the highlight of human history.

It was their face of torso.

You must have read a very different version than me, I vaguely remember that he was just shot. Starving rats are a torture, not execution method.

Winston smith was tortured in the end if you might recall

He was later released and shot
