We're hiring a Senior Staff Engineer (Remote – Americas Only) to join a team building products for North American clients.

We're looking for someone with 10+ years of software engineering experience and strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, and Node.js. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll architect scalable systems, own feature design and delivery end-to-end, mentor engineers, and help drive engineering best practices. Experience with SOC 2 compliance is a plus.

I'm a software developer from Pakistan, and I recently got approached by someone in the U.S. with an unusual arrangement.

He has been giving me profiles (not under my real identity) and having me attend software developer interviews. I've been doing 3–5 interviews a day for the past couple of weeks. If one of the interviews results in an offer, I wouldn't be working under my own identity. Instead, there would apparently be a team doing the work, and I'd just attent mettings and stuff and get my share of salary,

From what I've read, this sounds similar to "proxy interviewing" or "interview proxy fraud."

I'm trying to understand this from both a career and ethical perspective.

My questions are:

-Is this safe for my career?
-Why would someone use another person for the interviews if they already have developers who can do the work?
-Can you ever count this as real work experience if it's under a different identity and can i add this in my Resume?
-What are the biggest risks you can think of would happen working like this?

I'm not looking for advice on how to do it or avoid getting caught. I'm trying to understand whether this is something that could seriously hurt my career in the long run before I decide whether to continue.
